  • Patent number: 4641132
Abstract: This circuit includes a DC source in series with a load to be energized, the DC source also being coupled to a constant-current circuit coupled to the input of an output-signal-generating means. The latter produces an output signal in response to the detection by an associated sensor of a changing condition monitored by the sensor. When the signal-generating means detects a change, an SCR coupled to the DC source is turned on thereby by-passing all of the DC from said source around said constant current source. Simultaneously, the signal-generating means causes an associated LED to emit a light signal.

  • Patent number: 4628951
Abstract: An electromagnetically actuatable probe is inserted in a vessel containing a body of liquid and in which high pressure, high temperature, corrosive, or other hostile conditions exist. Pulses are transmitted to the probe within a predetermined range of frequencies which include the normal resonant frequency of the probe. Return signals are generated by the probe between the times the transmitted pulses are sent. These return pulses are processed to produce signals which are a function of the level of the liquid that are then employed to control the discharge of the liquid or used by another utilization circuit.

  • Patent number: 4600827
Abstract: A dual power-supply system is used to produce a sharp rise-time characteristic and a high steady-state temperature in a platinum ribbon pyrolysis probe. First, a small "boost" power supply generates a very short, high power pulse that is applied to the probe. Then, at its peak, the first power supply is effectively disabled and a second power supply is brought into play to maintain the power (and the temperature) in the probe at a high steady-state value approximating the peak value of the boost pulse.

  • Patent number: 4561320
Abstract: An assembly which involves a ratchet wheel adapted to be rotated by incremental steps to drive a shaft connected thereto. A rotatable pushbutton is mounted through a hole in the chassis and is connected to a rod to which a flexible pawl is mounted parallel to the rod. When the pushbutton is in one rotary position, inward pressure strokes on the pushbutton cause the pawl to engage teeth in one region of the ratchet wheel causing it to move in a clockwise direction. When the pushbutton is rotated 180.degree. to a second rotary position, each inward push on the pushbutton causes the pawl to engage respective teeth in another region of the wheel thereby moving the wheel incrementally one step in a counterclockwise direction.

  • Patent number: 4522057
Abstract: A method and apparatus for preparing a proof or sample of an ink (as herein defined) as a preliminary to its being employed in a printing or coating process to enable its color and coating capability to be determined. A quantity of the ink is applied to a first roller the surface of which is engraved. The ink is evenly distributed over the roller using a doctor-blade set so as to wipe the roller surface clean and leave the ink only in the engravings. A second roller of resiliently deformable material is moved into contact with the inked roller so causing ink to be transferred to the surface of the second roller until equilibrium is reached and a sheet of the substrate to be inked or coated is introduced into the nip between the two rollers. Means is provided for cleaning the rollers after use.

  • Patent number: 4516712
Abstract: A tile cutter for separating into parts a ceramic tile or the like after scoring a break line, comprised of a pair of blocks hinged by stop hinges and having proximate edge faces cut away to provide clearance for folding the blocks about the hinge. Slots extend through the blocks and are normally coplanar to admit a tile so as to bridge the gap between the two blocks. A stop which may be adjustable towards and away from the hinge, governs the amount by which a tile can be introduced into the aligned slots. Alternatively the tile may be held in position through a cut-out. A scale allows the amount of insertion to be measured. A scribing tool is used to scribe a line in the tile surface to define the break line and the tile is cut (or broken) by sharply hinging one of the two blocks relative to the other as by a sharp impact, so as to stress the tile along the tile scribed line to cut/break the tile therealong.
