Patent number: 8131663Abstract: A apparatus implemented using a programmable computer that automatically generates the rules required by a software rules engine as a process flow diagram is designed. The apparatus includes a developer interface; an editing interface, and a rules generator. A developer interface enables the user to define functions and variables together with their properties from the business application. An editing interface allows the user to define the logical rules the business would follow in performing the business application by constructing a process flow diagram and associated tables using the functions and variables defined in the developer interface. The rules generator then automatically parses the flow diagrams and tables defined by the business user and, using the functions and variables defined in the developer interface, generates rules for a rules engine. The rules can then be deployed to a controller that implements the process automatically based on the input rules.Type: GrantFiled: October 13, 2008Date of Patent: March 6, 2012Inventor: Bonamy Taylor

Patent number: 8115182Abstract: Described is a self-indicating instant radiation dosimeter (1001) for monitoring high energy radiations, such as X-ray. The dosimeter contains a radiation sensitive, color changing, indicating composition (10), e.g., a diacetylene (R—C?C—C?C—R?, where R and R? are substituents groups) or a radiochromic dye, a polymeric binder (20) and optionally a shelf life extender (50) or an activator (40). The radiation sensitive composition (10) changes color instantly when exposed to high energy radiation. The dose is estimated by comparing the color with a color reference chart or more accurately with a spectrophotometer or an optical densitometer. The radiation sensitive composition (10) is protected from low energy radiation such as UV light, by a layer of low energy absorbing materials, such as UV absorbers.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2007Date of Patent: February 14, 2012Inventor: Gordhanbhai N Patel

Patent number: 8082851Abstract: The invention relates to ammunition for missile weapon and firearm. The cavitating core of the invention comprises a head part conjugated with a secant nose surface along the cavitating edge, a central part, and an aft part with a gliding surface, wherein the caliber of the core is defined by the maximum diameter of the circle describing the core cross-section. The contour line enveloping the cross-sections from the cavitating edge to the core caliber in the plane of the core axial longitudinal section is limited by the dependence: Dx=d×[1+(1x/d)×(2×sin ?/?)1/N]N, where Dx—is the current diameter of the core enveloping contour R, mm; d—is the cavitating edge diameter, mm; Lx—is the current distance from the cavitating edge to the core caliber, mm; ?=60° . . . 270°— is the apex angle of the tangents to the secant nose surface at the points of its conjugation with the cavitating edge measured from the side of the head part; N=(2?/?)0.4 . . . (2?/?)0.Type: GrantFiled: February 12, 2007Date of Patent: December 27, 2011Assignee: DSG Technology ASInventors: Andrey Albertovich Polovnev, Vladimir Shaymukhametovich Khasiakhmetov

Patent number: 8057883Abstract: Porous sintered bodies for capacitors formed from valve metals are treated by electrolysis to form a dielectric layer and coated with cathode layers. When standard parallelepiped shapes are used as they were passed, cathode coverage at the sharp corners and edges is non-uniform and failures occur at those locations. Treating pressed anode bodies with an abrasive process alters the sharpness of corners and edges, creating rounded transitions between primary surfaces and remove surface imperfections resultant from the pressing process both of which enhance cathode layer uniformity.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 2007Date of Patent: November 15, 2011Assignee: Kemet Electronics CorporationInventors: Jeffrey Poltorak, Christian Guerrero, Yongjian Qui, Lance Thornton

Patent number: 8057658Abstract: In an electrolytic method for producing nano-scale carbon products, such as carbon nanotubes, first and second graphite electrodes contact a fused-salt electrolyte. A power supply is coupled to the electrodes and first and second voltages are alternately applied to the electrodes. The first voltage is applied such that the first electrode is at a cathodic potential relative to the second electrode, and the second voltage is applied such that the second electrode is at a cathodic potential relative to the first electrode. The method thus advantageously converts the carbon of both electrodes to nano-scale carbon products.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 2005Date of Patent: November 15, 2011Assignee: Cambridge Enterprise Limited The Old SchoolsInventors: Derek John Fray, Carsten Schwandt, Aleksandar Dimitrov
