Abstract: Two pistons in adjacently situated cylinders in a twin-piston two-stroke engine share a common combustion chamber. To ensure low exhaust gas emissions with low consumption, a lean mixture is burnt whereof the complete combustion is made possible by designing the combustion chamber so that circulation of the ignited mixture takes place and the mixture burns through rapidly. The twin-piston two-stroke engine may also be devised to run with a stratified charge, the centrally arranged partition in the twin cylinder providing excellent separation between the lean and rich mixture portions.
Abstract: A suspension assembly for a wheel of a motor vehicle, includes a suspension assembly, an axle beam, an elongated spring, and a radius arm. The radius arm has an extended length for attachment at a mid-region suspension connection point on the vehicle frame. The suspension bracket has multiple surfaces adapted for flush mounting to the chassis of the vehicle.
Abstract: An applicator for scrubbing an eyelid and a sealed, contaminant-excluding package therefor. The applicator includes an absorbent tip pre-wet for applying a liquid to an eyelid and affixed adjacent to a handle that is held firmly between the fingers for optimal control and safety near the eyeball.
Abstract: A matrix useful for immobilizing organic ligands, such as biologically active materials, is prepared by reacting a hydroxyl group containing polymer with polyethyleneimine.
Abstract: A system is disclosed for subdividing parametric patches for use in a computer graphics system to develop images. The system utilizes initial data, provided as by an interactive user, to represent control points for an initial patch from which the system rapidly computes control points for subpatches using parallel processors. The disclosed system is recursive so that each level of subdivision leads to greater refinement of an initial patch. In one embodiment, the processors in the system compute multiple control points, the grouping of processors exploiting patch symmetrical properties.

Abstract: A method and associated apparatus for accurately determining the frequency of signals in the Gigahertz range. The signal is gated and applied to a conventional prescaler, producing an output signal whose frequency is a whole number fraction of the input. The frequency of the prescaler output is counted and the count stored. The output of the prescaler initiates the application of clocking pulses to the prescaler sufficient in number to complete the count of the prescaler. The number of pulses required is counted and combined with the stored count of the prescaler to produce an accurate measure of the frequency of the signal.
Abstract: Apparatus for incrementally positioning a magnetic transducer read/write head for recording data magnetically upon a single rotating magnetic recording media in the form of a disc wherein the read/write head is moved such that the read/write head gap travels along a locus which is parallel to but displaced from a radial disposed in an orthogonal plane extending from the axis of rotation of the disc.
Abstract: A stirrup machine for bending metallic stock material such as bars, wire, strips and the like and forming individual bent pieces therefrom including: advancing and reversing and other suitable apparatus (1) for selectively advancing and reversing the feed of the stock material (2) and to retract the finished bent product; shear and guide apparatus (3) for the stock material (2); bending apparatus (4) having an interchangeable fixed central bending fork (7) to guide and support the stock material (2) and a bending pin (8) for bending the stock material (2) around the central fork (7) in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction.
