  • Patent number: 8345398
Abstract: A solid state power supply control circuit is disclosed. Specifically, the present invention discloses a power coupler enclosing a power supply control circuit, where the power control circuit enables transient increases in current in response to a demand from an active load device, while preventing overvoltage conditions from damaging the power coupler or the active load device. The power supply control circuit further prevents output faults in the power cable or a failure in the active load device from creating conditions which would damage the power coupler and/or the active load device.

  • Patent number: 8327602
Abstract: A method and system for covering industrial wood plank or wood block floors that can be installed quickly without creating a hazardous environment or hazardous wastes and without the necessity of removing installed equipment. Sand is swept over the wood to fill voids and cracks. Next metal lath is stapled to the wood. A first layer of epoxy is poured onto the metal lath. After this is dry, a second coat of finish epoxy, possibly colored as desired, can be installed on the first epoxy layer. When this dries, the job is done and operations can be restarted. The epoxy material used can be self-leveling for ease of application and the final floor is approximately level. In a particular embodiment, a layer of plastic can be placed over the floor before the lath is installed, and in another embodiment, the second layer of epoxy can be omitted.

  • Patent number: 8261250
Abstract: A single-chip multiprocessor system and operation method of this system based on a static macro-scheduling of parallel streams for multiprocessor parallel execution. The single-chip multiprocessor system has buses for direct exchange between the processor register files and access to their store addresses and data. Each explicit parallelism architecture processor of this system has an interprocessor interface providing the synchronization signals exchange, data exchange at the register file level and access to store addresses and data of other processors. The single-chip multiprocessor system uses ILP to increase the performance. Synchronization of the streams parallel execution is ensured using special operations setting a sequence of streams and stream fragments execution prescribed by the program algorithm.

  • Patent number: 8225960
Abstract: An ice dispense system for an ice dispenser is characterized by a chute having an ice receiving upper end in communication with an ice bin outlet passage and an ice dispensing lower end. Beginning with the chute filled with ice and its lower end closed, to dispense a selected quantity of ice, the chute lower end is opened for one of a plurality of different time periods, where each individual time period of the plurality is of a duration to dispense from the chute an associated predetermined quantity of ice. In response to dispensing ice from the chute, an agitator in the bin is operated for one of a plurality of different time periods, where each individual time period of the plurality is of a duration to move through the bin outlet passage and into the upper end of the chute an amount of ice substantially equal to that dispensed. The ice dispensing system is provided with an improved user interface and user programmable features.

  • Patent number: 8225621
Abstract: A method and system for detecting and correcting unintended reverse or backward operation of an electric motor driven scroll compressor of a refrigeration system is characterized by monitoring the pressure at a suction side of the compressor during operation of the refrigeration and determining whether the pressure, after a first time interval following startup of the compressor, exceeds and remains in excess of a predetermined upper pressure limit for at least a second time interval. If it does, the compressor is turned off for a third time interval and is then restarted. The foregoing is repeated and if the compressor is turned off a selected number of times because of successive occurrences of high suction side pressures during operation of the refrigeration system in a chilling cycle, an error indication is generated and the refrigeration system is shut down.

  • Patent number: 8177242
Abstract: A radiographic grid cabinet for holding x-ray grids and/or cassettes that can have a vertical structure attached to a flat base with wheels that engage when the device is tilted backward like a handcart so that the cabinet can be easily transported from place to place. In an alternate embodiment, wheels can fold out when needed. The device also can have a support plate that can move vertically on a set of rails or other structure attached to the cart. A thumb controlled pin on a clamp or other locking device can select one of a number of holes in the rails to lock the cabinet into a fixed vertical position. The device can also have a rotating bearing that allows the grid holder to be rotated from a horizontal to a vertical position, or through a vertical position from either of two horizontal positions. The motion can optionally be restricted by the bearing so that the grid holder cannot rotate more than 180 degrees and cannot be turned upside down.

  • Patent number: 8052847
Abstract: A system and method for removing water from a liquid desiccant such as a glycol used to dry cooled air in order to restore the desiccant to a purity up to around 97% in a closed continuous flow process. Liquid desiccant can be sprayed into cooled air in a conditioner where it gains moisture. The wet or gained desiccant can be optionally preheated in an economizing heat exchanger and then routed into a concentrator. Desiccant pure to around 97% can be removed from the concentrator, passed through an economizing heat exchanger to provide the preheating and returned to the conditioner holding area. The concentrator can be heated by steam or other means such as natural gas to boil the wet desiccant causing mixed vapor to enter a vertical distillation column where most of the glycol condenses out on the column packing or plates and returns to the concentrator.

  • Patent number: 7997864
Abstract: A user adjustable variable axial length and variable pitch ceiling fan blade arm. The blade arm includes a pair of extension elements. Each element is threadably engaged with each other. At the other end of the extension elements are custom flanges for the purpose of attaching a fan blade and connecting the blade arm to a ceiling fan motor. The user can adjust the axial length and radial pitch of the blade arm by screwing in or out a threaded connection between the extension elements, and once the desired length and pitch is selected, the connection is secured by a connector, such as a hand and/or tool adjustable threaded lock.
