  • Patent number: 4531614
Abstract: A portable hydraulic service lift for elevating equipment such as industrial vehicles. The lift includes a base assembly including a platform which supports the elevated lift and allows the lift to be readily moved to a different location. A pair of rigid support legs extend upwardly from one end of the base platform and are spaced transversely to receive a portion of the equipment to be elevated therebetween. A pair of elongate lifting arms are joined in a cantilevered fashion to the support legs along the sides of the base platform. Rollers join the lifting arms to the adjacent support leg so that the arms can be raised and lowered in a cantilevered fashion while rolling along the support legs. Lifting bars extending transversely across the lifting arms are adapted to engage with the underside of the vehicle to be lifted. Power lifting mechanism are provided to raise and lower the arms and the vehicle supported on the lifting bars.

  • Patent number: 4499978
Abstract: A strong and lightweight adjustable slack adjuster is disclosed. The slack adjuster body portion includes, in one form thereof, an integral and a removable cover plate. In another form a pair of removable side cover plates are provided and are fixed to the slack body by deformation of a body rim over the cover plate edge. Other cover plate forms are deformable or resilient and include peripheral skirts which are expandable radially outwardly to fit within an annular groove in the body portion. Meshing worm gear and worm wheel means, which can be rotatably adjusted with respect to each other to thereby adjust the slack in a braking system, are positioned within the body. The worm wheel is supported by the body around its entire periphery to maximize the load carrying capacity of the slack while minimizing wear. The major portion of the worm gear is also supported by the body. Sealing means are positioned between the worm wheel and the cover plates to seal the worm gear and worm wheel from contaminants.

  • Patent number: 4495861
Abstract: A cooking utensil is disclosed for use on a barbeque-type device which includes a bowl for containing a heating medium. A generally planar cooking surface has peripheral dimensions less than the cross dimensions of the upper rim of the barbeque bowl. Handles project outwardly of the cooking surface generally coplanar therewith for supporting the cooking surface on the bowl rim. Divider flanges separate one side of the cooking surface into distinct cooking sections. A stop flange is disposed about a portion of the periphery of the opposite side of the cooking surface. The divider flanges and the stop flange prevent the cooking utensil from sliding off of the rim of the barbeque bowl.

  • Patent number: 4495675
Abstract: A boning apparatus and method is disclosed for removing the meat of an animal or poultry part from an elongate bone over the knuckled joint end. The apparatus includes meat stripping blades with a variable size opening therein for encircling the elongate portion of the bone, and bone holding blades for holding one end of the bone and pulling the bone through the blade opening to strip the meat from the elongate portion of the bone. A sensor detects the proximity of the stripping blade to the knuckle joint end and causes the size of the blade opening to increase by an amount which just allows the knuckle joint to pass therethrough. The meat is thereby cleanly and completely removed from the knuckle joint end of the bone.

  • Patent number: 4488326
Abstract: An ambulatory power lift including a base and a movable lifting platform connected by a scissor lever assembly. Hydraulic power cylinders expand said scissor assembly in a manner which applies a substantially vertical lifting force to said platform. A modular power unit directs hydraulic fluid to said cylinders and allows the remote control of the lifting operation. A retractable bridge assembly on one end of the platform automatically raises as said lift is lowered, and a retractable wheel assembly allows the lift to be selectively transported in a lowered condition. A retractable guardrail closes at least one end of the lift platform. Safety means are also provided to prevent tampering with said power unit and to prevent entrapment between the platform and base.

  • Patent number: 4484697
Abstract: A method and apparatus for dispensing a liquid efficiently and completely, and in a manner which prevents direct contact with potentially deleterious propellents. The liquid to be dispensed is placed within a collapsible bag having flexible walls and the bag is supported within a container having relatively rigid walls. A source of vacuum pressure is connected to the bag through a flexible conduit and through a weighted connector. The connector defines a port in communication with the conduit and in engagement with and floating in the liquid within the bag. The connector and conduit thereby keep the liquid in constant communication with the vacuum source. Vacuum withdraws the liquid from the bag through the conduit and the port while the connector is maintained in fluid communication with the liquid as the bag collapses as a result of the action of the vacuum force and the weighted connector.

  • Patent number: RE31853
Abstract: An apparatus for reliably folding the protruding end flaps of an article filled package against the body of the package and for then securing the end flaps to the package. The apparatus includes a package gripping feed conveyor optionally having a reject mechanism therein. The gripping conveyor receives a line of packages from a wrapping machine and feeds these into pusher flights of a transverse conveying system. The reject mechanism can be manually or automatically actuated and de-actuated to reject defective product and/or packages. The feed conveyor maintains control of the nonrejected packages only until the forward end of each of the packages moves against or near an abutment in a transfer section which urges the forward flaps downwardly as the packages are moved upwardly and transversly out of the transfer section over a plate by the then arcuately moving pushers of a transverse flap folding conveyor which subsequently folds and seals both end flaps against the body of the associated packages.
