  • Patent number: 4907379
Abstract: A shot blasting machine including a blast cabinet having at least one internal abrasive throwing wheel rotatably mounted therein and directly coupled to a driving motor mounted externally on one wall of the blast cabinet. The opposed wall of the blast cabinet has mounted thereon externally of the blast cabinet an abrasive delivery spout and funnel for the throwing wheel disposed immediately adjacent to the throwing wheel, so that the blast cabinet also functions as a hood for the throwing wheel. The machine may have a workpiece passage across the width of the blast cabinet; a workpiece passage along the length of the blast cabinet; a rotating table for supporting workpieces, the axis of rotation of the table being within the blast cabinet and the table being housed within an openable casing fitted to the blast cabinet; or a plurality of different workpiece passage configurations or supports.

  • Patent number: 4827280
Abstract: A flow rate control system is disclosed for measurement of ink flow through an ink jet system. The flow rate control system receives an error signal indicative of deviation of flow rate from a set value. The system includes proportional (P), integral (I) and derivative (D) control to generate a control signal based on the magnitude and sign of the error signal. The control signal is used to control the on-time of an ink make-up valve which adds make-up ink to the system as ink is needed to maintain satisfactory operation. In a preferred embodiment, the PID controller has noise reduction capability through the use of clippers and low pass filters. In addition, conditional summation may be employed to minimize "hunting" at low error signal levels.

  • Patent number: 4522228
Abstract: A liquid level control system for controlling the flow of liquid into a reservoir, storage tank or other container. A nozzle develops a liquid flow stream therethrough, and a valve effectively opens and closes the nozzle. A fluid amplifier is associated with the nozzle and includes a fluid power stream, a signal developing port for receiving a fluid pressure signal from the power stream, and a sensor for diverting the fluid power stream from the signal developing port in response to the static presence of the interface at a predetermined sensing level of liquid in the reservoir. A pressure responsive switch is coupled to the valve and is located below the signal developing port of the fluid amplifier.

  • Patent number: 4519450
Abstract: An air cooled vacuum producing condenser is disclosed for condensing vapors containing non-condensible gases, i.e. air. The condenser includes a condenser chamber with a bundle of condenser tubes across the chamber. Inlet and outlet headers are disposed at opposite ends of the chamber. Water is directed downwardly onto the bundle of condenser tubes, and air is discharged from the interior of the chamber to create a downward flow of air through the chamber across the bundle of condenser tubes.

  • Patent number: 4517278
Abstract: A photosensitive resin composition useful for preparation of flexographic printing plates, which comprises syndiotactic 1,2-polybutadiene, an ethylenically unsaturated monomer and a photo-polymerization initiator, the syndiotactic 1,2-polybutadiene having an average molecular weight of from about 10,000 to 300,000, a 1,2-unit content of at least about 80 percent and a crystallinity of about 10 to 30 percent, said ethylenically unsaturated monomer being an ester of acrylic or methacrylic acid with an alkanol having from 4 to 20 carbon atoms, and the photo-polymerization initiator being benzoin or an alkyl ether thereof. The photosensitive resin composition, when formed into sheets, exhibits satisfactory resistance to liquids used for washing out the uncured areas and at also to aqueous or alcoholic printing inks, thereby producing patterns in relief that give excellent overall sharpness. It also possesses desired hardness and elasticity for flexographic printing plates.

  • Patent number: 4515178
Abstract: A fluid amplifier for sensing the level of a liquid in a reservoir, storage tank or other container and for generating a differential in pressure signal in response to the static presence of the liquid level at a predetermined level. An inlet develops a liquid flow stream. A first passage of major cross-sectional dimensions is provided for delivering a major portion of the flow stream to the reservoir or storage tank. A second passage of minor cross-sectional dimensions is spaced laterally of the first passage for developing a small signal fluid power stream substantially parallel to the major supply stream. A sensor is responsive to the static presence of the liquid level at the predetermined level for altering the smaller fluid power stream from its substantially parallel flow condition to a condition in which it diverts and attaches to the major supply stream.
