  • Patent number: 4721033
Abstract: A method and apparatus for removing sprayed material from the air exhausted from a spray booth comprising an enclosure in which the material is sprayed. Air supply means are arranged to supply air to the enclosure, and outlet fans are provided for extracting air laden with the sprayed material from the enclosure. Two physically separate air outlet paths are provided for the extracted air and respective washing means for removing the sprayed material from the laden air are associated with each said path. The washing means are arranged to bring the material laden air into intimate contact with a cleaning liquid. Means are provided for controlling the volume of air flowing through each outlet path such that the volume flowing along each outlet path can be varied in dependence upon the volume of air exhausted from the spray booth. This enables the efficiency of the respective washing means to be maintained.

  • Patent number: 4717498
Abstract: Dimethiocone copolyol sulfosuccinate compounds obtained from silicone-based monoesters. The dimethicone copolyol sulfosuccinates are obtained by reacting the ethoxylated polyether side chains of dimethicone copolyol with maleic anhydride to form a monoester and then converting the monoester to a sulfosuccinate by sulfonation of the double bond with a metallic sulfite, an amine or with a combination of a metallic sulfite and an amine. Dimethicone copolyol sulfosuccinates are silicone-based compounds which are useful as surfactants for improving the mildness and foam enhancing and stabilizing properties of shampoos and other personal care products.

  • Patent number: 4692358
Abstract: Two paint spray guns (2) are mounted on a common manifold block (14) by means of which trigger air, atomizing air and paint are fed to the guns. Each spray gun (2) is individually controlled by a respective solenoid valve (28) also supported on the manifold block. The apparatus is mounted on a robot arm (52) and is maneuvered thereby to undertake a painting operation. During each stage of the painting operation a selected one of the spray guns is positioned adjacent a surface to be painted and then operated to apply paint. The painting operation can be performed very quickly as the movements required of the robot are simpler and therefore faster than those of a conventional painting robot having just a single spray gun.

  • Patent number: 4688373
Abstract: In an article orienting, feeding and wrapping apparatus, a conveyor apparatus for orienting a plurality of disoriented wafer-like articles into single rows for wrapping. A conveying mechanism has receptacles for moving the articles in single rows extending transverse to the path of movement. An orienting mechanism forms a plurality of upwardly open channels extending parallel to the path of movement above the conveying mechanism and in which the disoriented articles are deposited. The channels are formed in part by vertically oscillating walls for agitating the disoriented articles and causing the articles to fall edge-wise through the channels into oriented rows in the receptacles of the conveying mechanism. The oriented rows then are fed through a series of sorting, wrapping and labeling wheels and ultimately to a discharging mechanism for discharging the sorted, wrapped and labeled rows of articles to a packaging station.

  • Patent number: 4638436
Abstract: A system for controlling a hyperthermia treatment device having energy applicators for heating a portion of a patient's body to attain a predetermined temperature protocol for therapeutic treatment of patient tumors. The system monitors energy application and displays a video presentation of correlative temperature data to an operator who responds by adjusting the energy application to achieve the desired treatment protocol. The system further accumulates a hyperthermia treatment data base, and predetermined temperature protocols for the patient are prepared by comparison with data base protocols for similar tumor conditions. Various figures of merit are also determined and stored in the data base and ongoing treatments are comparerd with the data base to characterize the most effective treatment protocol.
