Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for use in a cellular radio communication system for adjusting a handover parameter. Information is collected regarding actual handovers that have occurred between one or more pairs of cells as well as handover failures. The collected handover information is processed to determine a handover oscillation rate or a handover cost associated with the cell pair. If the handover performance is determined to be acceptable, the determined handover oscillation rate or the determined handover cost is compared with a predetermined target handover oscillation rate or a predetermined target handover cost, respectively. One or more handover parameters associated with at least one of the cells in the cell pair is adjusted based on the comparison.

Abstract: Infant accommodation apparatus supported in normal use on a flat horizontal surface. The apparatus includes a support device having, in a vertical plane, a constant circular or oval-shaped cross-section along its extent. The support device has an inner enclosure wall which is an inwardly facing upstanding enclosure wall which defines an infant accommodation region in which an infant may be positioned in use. The inner enclosure wall is endless and defines an endless non-circular enclosure around the infant accommodation region. The maximum diameter of the infant accommodation region is in the range 20 to 50cm, and the inner enclosure wall includes, when viewed from above, three curved apex regions separated by curved side regions. The support device further includes an outer enclosure wall which is an outwardly facing upstanding enclosure wall. The outer enclosure wall, when viewed from above, is non-circular and symmetrical about each of three vertical planes angled at 120° to each other.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for manufacturing plastic packaging in tubular form, which process comprises a wrapping step during which a laminate (11) is wrapped, an abutting step during which the edges (8, 9) of the laminate (11) are butted together and a fastening step during which said edges (8, 9) of the laminate (11) are welded together, characterized in that a bead (12) of plastic in the molten state is extruded and deposited on the internal face of the packaging so as to cover at least the weld zone (10) defined between the edges. The energy needed to produce the weld (10) comes from the plastic bead (12). The invention also relates to packaging obtained from the aforementioned process and to a device for implementing said process.

Abstract: In a transmissive liquid crystal display device including a liquid crystal panel and a backlight, the liquid crystal panel contains pixels each divided into four subpixels, a red (R), a green (G), a blue (B), and a white (W) subpixel. The backlight is a white backlight emitting light with controllable emission luminance. A luminance lowering section performs luminance lowering processing on input RGB signals (original input signals) for transformation into luminance-lowered RGB signals. An output signal generating section obtains transmittances and a backlight value from the luminance-lowered RGB signals.

Abstract: A digital downloading jukebox system including a mechanism for delivering custom services to a recognized user, including services for creating playlists, communicating with others, accessing other features, etc. is provided. In some exemplary embodiments, after a user is recognized, the jukebox system allows users to access a special front-end via an Internet-enabled device or on an actual jukebox. Then, the user may, for example, create playlists, share songs with friends, send messages to friends, and access other value-added content. Such a system preferably learns about networks of friends, and enables managers to send similar messages to regular customers and/or others known to the system. In some exemplary embodiments, changes via a first user interface on a first device are reflected on second user interface on other properly-configured devices.

Abstract: An apparatus for screening a fibrous suspension including: a housing, conduits therein at least for fiber suspension being fed, reject and accept, and a rotor and a cylindrical screen drum installed in the housing, at least one of which is rotatable, whereby a surface of the rotor is provided with rotor elements in proximity to the surface of the screen drum, whereby each rotor element includes a front surface facing a flow of the fiber suspension, an upper surface and a trailing surface sloping from the upper surface towards the surface of the rotor, wherein the trailing surface of the rotor element is curved and sidewalls of the trailing surface converge at a back point of the rotor element.

Abstract: A polypropylene composition comprising polypropylene impact copolymer or impact modified polypropylene and an effective flame retarding amount of a mixture of (i) tris(tribromoneopentyl) phosphate and (ii) a carbon-carbon initiator, wherein the composition meets a UL 94 rating of V-1 or V-0, said composition being substantially free from antimony trioxide. A method for improving the flame retarding rating of a polypropylene composition is also disclosed.

Abstract: A new user-friendly game editor allows game players with little or no experience to create new games or game levels. Game element structures can be “drawn” using an “auto completion” feature that automatically functionally connects and/or arranges chosen game elements to provide a visually pleasing environment that is easily navigated by game characters. Such technology can allow an end user game player with little or no technical background to easily develop game levels that are fun to play and do not suffer from any significant defects or other problems that would decrease ease of navigation, functionality or amount of fun. The user may share the authored game with other users via a network so other users can retrieve the game and play it on their own game playing devices. Users can provide feedback concerning the fun and functionality of the game. Good feedback can entitle the game author to recognition including for example bonus points.

The retainer member is welded to at least one of said forward sleeve and the impingement sleeve. The retainer member has first and second axial end edges disposed transverse to the longitudinal junction, and at least one of the axial end edges has a cutout defined therein and disposed to overlie the longitudinal junction.

Abstract: Electrical conductor patterns (20) are provided so as to face respective source lines (SL). In each of the electrical conductor patterns (20), a plurality of electrical conductor islands (21) line up. With a source line (SL) being broken at points P1 and P2, an electrical conductor island (21-j) is connected via point Q1a and Q1b, and an electrical conductor island (21j) is connected via points Q2a and Q2b, by carrying out laser welding. This realizes a display panel including spare lines for respective data signal lines, in which display panel it is possible to increase a probability that a supply failure of a data signal can be avoided, even in a case where a data signal line is broken.

Abstract: A data processing apparatus has a main controller for executing a programmable sequence of instructions including a transaction sequence of instructions used to process a transaction to be initiated by the data processing apparatus. The transaction sequence of instructions is programmed dependent on the interconnect protocol. The data processing apparatus has an interconnect interface unit including a plurality of queues with at least one send queue for issuing outbound payload information to the interconnect circuitry, and at least one receive queue for receiving inbound payload information from the interconnect circuitry. An interface controller is provided for pushing the outbound payload information on to the at least one send queue and popping the inbound payload information from the at least one receive queue, under the control of commands issued by the main controller. The interconnect interface unit has an interconnect port for communicating with the interconnect circuitry.

Abstract: An assist spring is fixed at its one end to a vane rotor and at its other end to a spring hook provided at an outside of a housing 18. A signal plate is fixed to the vane rotor on a side of the spring hook. A cam angle sensor is provided at an outer peripheral side of the signal plate for detecting a rotational angle of the signal plate. The assist spring and the spring hook are arranged in an area, which is inside of an outer periphery of the signal plate in a radial direction, so that the cam angle sensor may not misidentify the assist spring and the spring hook and thereby exactly detects the rotational angle of the signal plate.

Abstract: This toner recovery unit is detachable installed to an image forming device, and includes a waste toner storage tank, a frame, opening/closing members, and a shift member. The frame is formed with discharge outlets and with a discharge passage which communicates those discharge outlets to the waste toner storage tank. The opening/closing members are rotated to opened positions in which they communicate the discharge outlets to the discharge passage, and to closed positions in which they interrupt such communication. And, along with the shift member shifting from an engagement release position in which its end portion does not engage with a fixing knob to an engagement position in which it engages the fixing knob, it rotates the opening/closing members from their opened positions to their closed positions.

Abstract: A plasma display panel (PDP) includes an EMI filter supported by a glass substrate for blocking/shielding substantial amounts of electromagnetic waves, with the filter being supported by a side of the substrate opposite a viewer. In certain example embodiments, a black frit and a silver frit comprise a filter frame and are supported by the filter such that the filter is closer to the glass substrate than either or both of the frits. Alternatively, in certain example embodiments, a conductive black frit comprises a filter frame and is supported by the filter such that the filter is closer to the glass substrate than the frit. The filter has high visible transmission, and is capable of blocking/shielding electromagnetic waves. Advantageously, a transparent conductive coating (TCC) can be coated on a stock, non-cut glass sheet.

Abstract: A medicament source has a container and a crimped closure. The closure sealingly holds to the container a metered-dose release valve, of which the spout only is visible externally. The container has a neck and a protruding rim at which the crimp locates. The container is of molded polymer and has an outer, perforate sleeve of aluminum, providing mechanical strength for pressure retention. The neck has a relatively thicker wall thickness and the end is domed inwards, both for pressure retention. The polymer is of three layers or laminations. The innermost layer is of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) material to provide an inert layer with which the medicament and its propellant will not react or combine in any way. The middle polymer layer is of nylon material to provide a propellant tight layer, to contain the propellant, whose molecules may be able to pass through the PTFE layer. The outer polymer layer is of polypropylene (PP) to provide both water tightness and mechanical integrity of the container.

Abstract: A monitoring circuit 14, 16, 18, 20, 22 for monitoring an operating parameter of an integrated circuit 2 comprises a ring oscillator circuit 80 comprising a plurality of serially connected inverting stages 82-1, 82-2, 82-3. At least one of the inverting stages 82-1, 82-2 comprises at least one leakage transistor 64-1, 64-2 which is configured to operate in a leakage mode in which substantially all current through the at least one leakage transistor is a leakage current, and a capacitive element 70-1 arranged to be charged or discharged in dependence on the leakage current. The ring oscillator circuit 80 thus generates an oscillating signal with an oscillation period dependent on a rate at which the capacitive element 70-1 is charged or discharged. The operating parameter controls a magnitude of the leakage current so that the oscillation period indicates the operating parameter.
