  • Patent number: 8348734
Abstract: A game system moves a player character in a virtual game space in accordance with an operation by a player. Further, the player character's moving amount per predetermined unit time is detected at each predetermined time interval. A predetermined parameter (gage amount) value is calculated at each predetermined time interval based on the moving amount detected at each predetermined time interval. Also, the game system adds the predetermined parameter value calculated at each predetermined time interval for accumulation. In response to a predetermined operation performed by the player, the game system causes the player character to perform a predetermined motion (e.g., special shot) on a condition such that a value obtained as a result of the addition reaches a predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 8352814
Abstract: An electronic control apparatus comprises a nonvolatile memory, operating means, determining means and retrying means. The nonvolatile memory stores predetermined data and has a memory region which is divided into a plurality of sub-regions. The operating means executes a check operation for each of the sub-regions in order to check whether the data stored in the nonvolatile memory are normal or not. The determining means determines whether the check operation has detected any data errors. The retrying means allows the operating means to retry the check operation for a predetermined number of times for the sub-regions that have been determined to be in data error by the determining means.

  • Patent number: 8352819
Abstract: A data processing apparatus is provided with state retention circuits into which state values are saved from nodes within the data processing circuitry when entering a sleep mode from an active mode. Error management circuitry is coupled to the state retention circuits and detects errors in the retention of the state values. If errors are detected then an error recover response is triggered. A voltage controller coupled to the error management circuitry serves to vary a supply voltage to the state retention circuits during the sleep mode so as to maintain a finite non-zero error rate in the retention of the state values by the state retention circuits.

  • Patent number: 8350601
Abstract: A drive unit controls the operation of a corresponding power switching element such as IGBT which forms an inverter and a converter. The drive unit controls the operation of the corresponding power switching element to supply an operation current to a motor generator. First and second switching elements in the drive unit are simultaneously turned on when an operation signal transferred from a control device is switched to a turning-on instruction operation signal. The voltage at the gate terminal of the power switching element is shifted to a divided voltage obtained by dividing a voltage of the power source by first and second resistances connected in series in the drive unit. When a mirror time period of the power switching element is elapsed, the second switching element only is turned off in order to shift the gate voltage of the power switching element to the voltage of the power source.

  • Patent number: 8351648
Abstract: An apparatus is provided to control an angle of a light axis of light from headlights mounted on a vehicle. In the apparatus, images of a field of view in front of the vehicle are captured, and the captured images are used to detect taillights of a preceding vehicle. A illumination target position is set by using, as a positional reference, a position of the detected taillights in the captured images, and the angle of the light axis so that the light axis is directed to the illumination target position. The command is provided to an angle changing device, where the provided command depends on the angle calculated. The angle changing device changes the direction of the light axis of the light at an angle commanded by the command.

  • Patent number: 8348644
Abstract: A pump includes a cylinder and a plunger. The cylinder defines an outlet-side passage therein. The plunger is reciprocably received within the cylinder. An inner peripheral surface of the cylinder and an end surface of the plunger define a pump chamber. The outlet-side passage is communicated with the pump chamber. When the plunger reciprocates within the cylinder, fluid inside the pump chamber is pressurized such that fluid is discharged to an exterior through the outlet-side passage. The inner peripheral surface includes a spherical surface part that surrounds the pump chamber. The spherical surface part is defined by a curved surface having a predetermined curvature such that the pump chamber defines a spherical space. The spherical surface part is provided with an opening of the outlet-side passage, which has a circular shape when observed from a spherical center of the pump chamber.
