Abstract: The present invention provides a data acquisition and error correcting speech recognition system especially adapted for use in mobile telecommunications switching offices. The system comprises speech recognized dialing information with historical user calling information and attempts to determine whether the dialing information has been misspoken or misrecognized. If a mistake appears likely, the system suggests corrected dialing information to the user. The system also maintains data on the likelihood of various components of dialing information being misrecognized and updates this information with each call. The historical calling information indicates the user's propensity to call within particular area codes and office codes, to call particular phone numbers, and to call at particular times of day.

Abstract: A method and system for controlling access to information stored in an information database includes an unbundled port service control point coupled to an unbundled port information database. A signal transfer point routes line information database, calling name information, and other queries from an originating network to the unbundled port service control point. The unbundled port information database stores an unbundled port identifier that includes a dialing number for an unbundled port and a service provider identifier. The unbundled port information database also stores an information service identifier that includes a location for the database storing the service provider's information and access rights to that information for various networks. The unbundled port service control point extracts the originating network identity from the query and determines access rights to the requested information based upon the access rights for the information as stored in the database.

Abstract: A method for transferring automatic recall-related information from a switch to a service control point for storage and providing the automatic recall-related information to an external network element, such as a service node, for enhanced services, such as automatic recall telecommunications service. Automatic recall service allows a customer to dial a special feature code and receive an enunciation of the directory number of the last incoming caller. Typically, automatic recall-related information is stored in the called party switch and is not accessible to external network elements that may provide enhanced services with this information. This automatic recall-related information may include information such as the directory number of the last incoming caller, the time stamp of the last incoming call, and/or the privacy indicator of the last incoming call. The method includes transferring the automatic recall-related information to an SCP for storage.

Abstract: A method and system for transmitting a message obtained from a message delivery database in a calling name delivery service environment. A communication is received from a calling party directory number and directed to a code number. In response to the communication, a called party directory number associated with the communication is obtained. Next, an indication of a selected message is received from a list of messages. A prefix corresponding to the selected message is obtained from the message delivery database. The prefix and the calling party directory number are populated in a signaling message pertaining to the communication. The signaling message containing the prefix and the calling party directory number is transmitted to a network element serving the called party directory number.

Abstract: A method and system for dynamically managing billing information for telecommunications service application use at the service application level rather than at the billing system level. Each service application, such as a call forwarding service application, is programmed with application level data records in which are stored the parameters of a given promotion, such as number of free uses, the start time and stop time of the promotion or rental period, etc. Each time a service application is subsequently used, the customer's use of the service application is logged in a customer data record. The customer's use is then compared to a corresponding application level data record. Based on this comparison, a billing record is provided to the billing system which instructs the billing system to either bill or not to bill the customer for the particular use of the service application.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for handling incoming calls when call waiting is active. If the called party is not on a call when an incoming call occurs and the called party does not answer the incoming call then a message is played to the calling party that the called party did not answer, and the called party is given the opportunity to record a message for the called party. If the called party is on a call when an incoming call occurs and, after the call waiting signal is played to the called party, the called party does not answer the incoming call then a message is played to the calling party that the called party is busy, and the called party is given the opportunity to record a message for the called party. If the called party is engaged in a first call and a second call when an incoming call occurs then a message is played to the calling party that the called party is busy, and the called party is given the opportunity to record a message for the called party.
