  • Patent number: 4377116
Abstract: A husk burning furnace having a husk smoke-burning chamber formed by an inner peripheral perforated wall defining a pot-shaped primary gas burning chamber and an outer peripheral perforated wall surrounding the inner peripheral perforated wall. Means are provided to feed the husk particles into the smoke-burning chamber from the lower side of the latter in a floating manner where they are smoke-burnt to become smoke-carbonized husk particles, while generating unburnt gas. The smoke-carbonized husk particles are taken out of the furnace while the unburnt gas is introduced into the primary gas burning chamber so as to be burnt in the primary gas burning chamber. The gas together with flame is introduced further into a secondary gas burning chamber connected to the upper end of the inner peripheral perforated wall to generate colorless hot gas containing no substantial quantities of dust particles. Meanwhile, the smoke-carbonized husk particles are suitably discharged to the desired place.

  • Patent number: 4367974
Abstract: A surface drainage system comprising base members (27) and cover members (32). The base members have a channel formed between opposite walls thereof, and are designed to be laid end-to-end with the channels in longitudinal alignment. The cover members are of inverted channel section and have opposite side walls with a channel defined therebetween. The cover members are laid above the base members and combine therewith to form an enclosed drainage channel. Each cover member has at least one opening (37) extending through a side wall thereof and communicating with the channel. The lowermost part of the opening intersects the outer surface of the respective wall at a location (36) that is no closer to the bottom than to the top of the cover member. A carriageway (35) can be laid with its surface no lower than the point (36), so that drainage is effected through the opening (37) while the base members (27) lie at a significant depth below the carriageway surface.

  • Patent number: 4359644
Abstract: An electrical information transmitting means for consumer load control comprises a transmitter which transmits a coded signal through the conductors of an alternating current electrical distribution network as a sequence of wave-form distortions to a receiver which decodes the signal. The receiver comprises two correlators connected in quadrature, and the transmitters and each correlator synthesize synchronous signals from the power frequency, all of which is locked thereto. The D.C. voltage outputs of the correlators are squared and summed so that the receiver is independent of phase angle.

  • Patent number: 4353157
Abstract: A clip driver for driving such a type of clip as having opposing holding webs the front edges of which are resiliently pressed to each other to form lips for clipping sheets of paper or the like. The clip driver has a casing in which formed is a longitudinal guide way for guiding the clip, a clip driving member for driving the clip along the guide way and clip opening member with bifurcated inclined leg portions diverging toward the front end of the casing. In use, the clip is driven forwardly by the driving member so that lugs extending laterally from the holding webs slide along the diverging surfaces to forcibly open the clip overcoming the resilient pressing force to permit the sheets of paper or the like to be placed between two holding webs of the clip. As the clip is further driven forwardly, the lugs clear the guide surfaces of the clip opening member to allow the holding webs of the clip to be closed, thereby to clip the sheets of paper or the like.

  • Patent number: 4349151
Abstract: To hold a railway rail down on a support member, a device is employed having a first part driven into a vertical hole in the support member, a second part having a sideways projection, part of which lies vertically below a part of the support member, to one side of the bottom of the hole, and further parts forming an arch above the support member. A convex portion of the first part co-operates with the wall of the hole during the driving operation to form a pivot about which said device rocks to cause the above-mentioned part of the projection to come under the above-mentioned part of the support member. A portion of a clip is driven under the arch and presses upwardly on it, another portion of the clip bears downwardly on the flange of the rail and a third portion bears downwardly on a fixed surface which, as seen from the rail, is beyond said first portion.
