Abstract: A reflector unit is shaped from a plastic sheet to provide a plurality of individual reflectors having raised radiation barriers between adjacent reflectors. Ribs are provided in the radiation barriers to prevent stacked reflector units from sticking together during manufacture of flash arrays. Downwardly extending cups are formed in a central area of the reflector unit to aid in the handling of stacked reflector units.
Abstract: A hub for a circular fluorescent lamp unit, containing a ballast reactor and provided with a screw base. The hub housing comprises two housing members fitted together at their rims by means of a ridge on one member and a groove in the other member. An outwardly extending flange is provided on one of the housing members at the rim thereof, for seating a circular light assembly positioned around the hub.
Abstract: An electrical accessory having a lead is connected to an electrical cord having a multi-strand conductor by placing the cord and the lead against a backing member. A tool member vibrated at an ultrasonic frequency is brought into engagement with the electrical cord. Insulative material surrounding the conductor is melted and displaced away from the tool member. The conductor is driven against the lead and the lead is driven into the surface of the backing member. Upon de-energization of the tool member, the displaced insulative material solidifies and secures the connection between the conductor and the lead. The tool member includes a tip from which a sharpened projecting portion extends. The projecting portion severs the conductor in those instances where the conductor is to be connected to spaced leads. Serrated driving surfaces are positioned on either side of the projecting member.

Abstract: A photoflash lamp array of the FlipFlash type comprising a plurality of flash lamps, a reflector unit, a circuit board, and a flash indicator sheet. The reflector unit is provided with one or more indexing rim protrusions which extend into flash indicator openings in the circuit board for aligning the reflector unit to the circuit board.
Abstract: A screw-in circular fluorescent light unit having a circular light source, a hub having a screw-in base at the axis of the annular light source, and a plurality of symmetrically arranged support spokes extending radially from the hub to the circular light source. The support spokes are positioned and dimensioned so that the unit provides uniform illumination over the surface of a lamp shade.
Abstract: A FlipFlash type of flash array having a body portion and a pair of connectors extending from opposite ends of the body portion and offset from the front face of the body portion, is packaged in a display sheet having an opening through which the front part of the body portion is inserted, the connectors being adjacent to the rear surface of the display sheet. The package includes a member extending over the rear of the flash array.

Abstract: A photoflash unit having one or more flash lamps, and a transparent cover in front of the flash lamps which is provided with elongated light-refractive prisms in front of each flash lamp so as to refract directly radiated light from the lamp when flashed in a more frontward direction and into the area to be illuminated. Prisms may be provided on both sides of the cover.
Abstract: An improved shunt for series connected lamps is disclosed in which two strips of anodized aluminum foil are fastened together around the inner lead wires of the lamp.
Abstract: A fluorescent lamp fixture having mounting brackets provided with keyhole-shaped openings for accommodating mounting screws. The mounting brackets have cover flaps for concealing the screws, and the flaps contain locking tabs for preventing dislodgment of the brackets from the screws.
Abstract: A photoflash lamp array comprising a plastic housing containing flash lamps having lead-in wires connected to a circuit board carrying switching circuitry for sequentially firing the flash lamps. A combined shield and flash indicator sheet is positioned between the circuit board and the rear of the housing and is contoured to have side portions extending along the side walls of the housing.
Abstract: A photoflash lamp array of the FlipFlash type having connector tabs each having three terminals for connection to three contacts of a camera socket, two of the socket contacts being electrically connected together. The two terminals of the array intended for connection to the two socket contacts which are electrically connected together, are electrically connected together in the flash array.
Abstract: A glass support bead through which lead-in wires extend within a miniature type of flash lamp is shaped to have a raised narrow ridge extending between the lead-in wires so that when the lamp flashes the lead-in wires will melt back at the sides of the raised ridge of the support bead. The support bead is formed by shaping jaws which squeeze against the heat-softened bead material to form the raised narrow ridge.
