  • Patent number: 4083156
Abstract: A tilt-up wall panel in raised position is braced with panel brace assemblies, and the panel brace assemblies are braced with a pair of knee brace assemblies for each panel brace assembly, to form a tripod-like structure which eliminates the need for the conventional lateral bracing of the panel brace assemblies. The knee brace assemblies are connected to the wall panel, and for that purpose, two knee brace assemblies extending laterally between a pair of spaced apart panel brace assemblies include a connector common to both and which is connected to the wall panel. A preferred connector includes a base plate adapted to be connected to the wall panel, and a pair of swivel means mounted on one side of the base plate and each forming part of one of the latter two knee brace assemblies.

  • Patent number: 4075913
Abstract: A remotely operable mechanism for disconnecting an elevated pickup unit component of lifting apparatus from a tilt-up concrete wall slab in raised position following a lifting operation, the pickup unit being connected to the slab by fastening means engaging an insert embedded in the slab wall, includes a manipulating pole serving as an operating handle, and a flexible fastener coupling tool having a proximal end removably connected to one end of the pole and a free distal end opposite thereto, the connected pole end being uppermost on the pole in use. The tool has at its distal end a head releasably engageable with the fastening means and operable for disengaging the same from the insert to thereby release the pickup unit for removal from the wall slab. The tool includes a universal joint extending between and flexibly coupling the head and the proximal end of the tool, whereby the tool may be rotated by rotation of the pole while the pole is angularly disposed relative to the axis of rotation of the head.

  • Patent number: 4071168
Abstract: A level control system involving both an apparatus and a method for a rotary feed hopper of the inverted, open-ended, truncated cone-type, wherein heavy paste-like viscous material which is fed into the large open upper end of the feed hopper is delivered or discharged through the small lower end of the hopper. A load meter in connected relation with the motor which drives the hopper senses the power required to drive the hopper and thus indirectly indicates the quantity of the material in the hopper, and consequently, the height or level of the material. When the load on the motor reaches a predetermined maximum the feed of material to the hopper is discontinued thus preventing overflow. When the load on the motor reaches a predetermined minimum the feed of material into the hopper is resumed.

  • Patent number: 4051759
Abstract: An elongated hollow miter box embodying spaced-apart top and bottom walls has its ends bevelled on a 45.degree. bias. A pair of fixed guide edges on the top wall of the box are parallel to the bevelled ends and serve to guide the usual slide shoe of a portable electric saw over the top wall to effect a 45.degree. cut through either end of a wooden molding or other strip which is positioned and held on the bottom wall of the box. Near one end of the box, a transverse cross cut in the top wall cooperates with an auxiliary guide piece which, when placed on the top wall, presents an edge which guides the saw shoe transversely over the top wall and enables a 90.degree. cut to be made in the wooden strip. An opening in the medial region of the top wall affords finger access to the molding or other wooden strip for steadying purposes during making either a 45.degree. or a 90.degree. cut.

  • Patent number: 4030694
Abstract: A composite concrete wall form unit or assembly consisting of three metal-clad panels connected together in edge-to-edge relationship, the medial panel embodying a plywood facing with a rectangular metal-reinforcing or backing frame, such medial panel constituting a prefabricated fill-in panel for making up an odd dimension which exists between two adjacent outer panels. Such outer panels are of a larger size and likewise are prefabricated in such a manner that they possess a common plywood facing which extends across the plywood facing of the smaller medial panel in face-to-face relationship and thus bridges the odd dimension. A special and novel transition bolt is used for connecting each side rail of the reinforcing frame of the medial panel to the adjacent side rail of the adjacent outer panel.

  • Patent number: 4023374
Abstract: A preformed molded fiberglass reinforced plastic repair sleeve for use on a marine or other submerged concrete pile and a method of applying the same. The sleeve is provided with at least one vertical seam consisting of inside interlocking reentrant bends which together establish an interlocking tongue and groove joint. The joint is maintained effective by self-tapping screws which are in engaged relation with steel closure clips or strips. The sleeve after assembly is centered about the pile undergoing repair and the continuous space which exists between the sleeve and the pile is filled with a suitable grout which, when hardened, encompasses the internal or inside portions of the joint under pressure and prevents unfastening of the seam.
