Abstract: A group of building blocks made from plastic to create area- or volume-shaped designs including cube-shaped basic elements connecting elements by which means a basic element is connected to another basic element. The connecting elements are cylinders with rounded collars which are forced into undercut recesses in the base elements. The base elements may be straight prisms or other polyhedral shapes. Several base elements may be formed in one piece. The connectors may be integral or separate and the connectors and base elements may have communicating bores.
Abstract: A liquid polymerizable material which may be used, for instance, for the coating of wood or other substrate, which material, when cured, is fire-resistant and protects the substrate. The material cures without application of heat and is formed from methyl methacrylate monomer, a hydroxy alkylacrylate or diacetone acrylamide monomer, a chlorinated hydrocarbon, an antimony compound, a zinc compound, a filler, and a catalyst-promoter system.
Abstract: Lug strap consisting of a bight joining two parallel elongated legs the bight consisting of a central portion having an inner surface which is substantially at a right angle to the direction of the legs and is joined at its ends to the legs by transition portions.
Abstract: An orthopedic cast made of a thermoplastic polyester having a melting point between 40.degree. C and 70.degree. C, particularly poly(epsilon-caprolactone) having a weight average molecular weight of over 30,000. The cast is formed of a continuous or foraminous sheet which is either solid polyester or polyester on a substrate which is not melted at the melting point of the polyester. The sheet is made plastic by heating in water of suitable temperature and then wrapping around the subject limb.
Abstract: Synthetic Na,K-ferrierite, a molecular sieve zeolite capable of intracrystalline adsorption of molecules, is prepared by hydrothermal synthesis in the water, soda, potash, alumina, silica system. Crystallization is best achieved in the temperature range of 230.degree.-310.degree. C and autoclaving times of 2-96 hours with the use of co-precipitated silica-alumina gels and Na and K carbonates and bicarbonates.
Abstract: This invention has to do with a gun and, more particularly, to a firearm having a rifled barrel which can be used effectively with shotgun shells.
Abstract: A method of relieving skin irritation surrounding an iliac stoma established after an ileostomy or colostomy (surgical removal of the intestine), the method involving local application of a paste containing calcium, sodium poly (vinyl methyl ethermaleate) in a petrolatum base.
Abstract: A pipe remover for extracting a buried pipe from the ground by pulling an exposed end. The remover includes a grasping dog which engages the exposed end and a pushing dog which engages the buried trailing end. The two dogs are connected by a drawing element. By pulling outwardly on the drawing element, the pulling force is divided between pulling action on one end and pushing action on the other end. The pipe is usually extracted without breaking but, even if it breaks, is pushed through. The pipe may be simultaneously replaced by attaching a new pipe to the trailing end of the pushing dog.
Abstract: A mechanical device for releasing a bow string in archery, involving a housing, a nib mounted in the housing, a holding cord wrapped around the bow string and held by the nib, and a trigger actuated sear mechanism controlling release of the nib. The nib is on a nib bar which is pivoted at an intermediate portion. A sear bar is pivotally mounted in the housing for movement away from the nib bar. Said sear bar engages the edge of the nib bar to prevent same from pivoting. A trigger is pivotally mounted in the housing intermediate its ends. The trigger has one end which engages the sear and is removed from the sear by manual actuation of the trigger. The movement of the sear by the trigger causes the sear to release the nib, the latter then rotating about its axis to release a bow string which is being held by a looped cord attached to the housing.
Abstract: Window hardware for driving a latch rod, especially for insertion in the edge of casement windows, doors, etc., wherein the back side is fastened on a track, consisting of a drive housing having two housing parts in which is positioned a turnable member which can have the shape of a pinion, the turnable member engaging the latch rod fitting which extends through a guide canal in the drive housing and is guided and movable longitudinally on the inverted track.
Abstract: A display assembly consisting of a rack with a plurality of compartments, trays in the compartments, and stacks of fabric pieces in the trays, all arranged so that the fabric pieces are adequately displayed.
Abstract: A tool including a handle, a movable jaw pivotally mounted on the handle, and a spring which biases the movable jaw. The connection between the spring and the movable jaw involves a keyhole cut in the jaw and a neck and an enlarged head on the end of the spring which head can lock into the keyhole.
Abstract: Compactible shelter consisting of a telescoping rectangular frame to the center of which are hinged a plurality of U-shaped roof elements covered by a flexible fabric.
Abstract: Apparatus for forming annular articles from elongated workpieces of thermoplastic material is provided with clamps for grasping the ends of the workpiece, and a heating plate with two opposed surfaces; the clamps apply the ends of the workpiece to the plate to heat them and then bring the ends together.
Abstract: Remote shift for a vehicle in which a shift lever at a remote station operates transmission gears in a motor vehicle by operating a piston and valve which produce and control hydraulic pressure which operates actuating pistons at the gears.
