Abstract: In a synchronous remote mirroring system, as a host computer writes data to primary storage in a primary data storage system, remote copy data is transferred from the primary data storage system to a secondary storage system in which secondary storage is maintained as a remote mirror of the primary storage. The primary data storage system performs data reduction upon the remote copy data prior to transmitting the remote copy data in a reduced to the secondary data storage system. The secondary data storage system returns an acknowledgement of receipt of the remote copy data upon receipt of the remote copy data in the reduced form, and later reverses the data reduction upon the remote copy data in the reduced form to produce data written to the secondary storage to maintain the secondary storage as the remote mirror of the primary storage.

Abstract: Method and system for enabling advertisers to deliver advertisements to consumers in which a plurality of tiers of available advertisements are defined, each tier containing a number of advertisements, a price for allocation of an advertisement in each tier is set wherein a lowest tier has the lowest price and the price increases to a maximum at a highest tier, and advertisements are allocated to advertisers based on availability starting from a lowest tier with unallocated advertisements and progressing to higher tiers.

Abstract: Systems and methods use behavioral data to assess listings for items. The behavior data may relate to information regarding user actions in connection with listings for the items. The listings may be collections of information about the items. Behavioral data in connection with a collection of listings is used to assess how changing listings affects one or more performance measures and/or to score listing quality. The assessment may be used for various purposes, such as identifying listings that may be changed to achieve one or more improved performance measures for corresponding items and for other applications.

Abstract: A method and device for servocontrolling an aircraft speed-wise in an approach phase. The device can adapt to the estimated time of passage of the aircraft at a particular point of the approach trajectory, the position of the start of deceleration of the aircraft in the approach phase.

Abstract: Multiple paths of an index tree may be traversed to discover a set of content descriptors that are match candidates for a set of query descriptors. A size of the set of candidate content descriptors may be optimized, for example, to reduce false positive matching errors, query latencies and/or index tree traversal times, at least in part by determining a number of child nodes to traverse based at least in part on current traverse level and/or traverse neighborhood thresholds. Index trees for large content descriptor sets may be built in resource constrained environments with approximation and/or refining build techniques.

Abstract: Provided is a method, wireless communication device and computer program product for generation and communication of a geographic route from a first device to a second device. The method involves presenting a reference map using the first device; receiving route input using the first device, said route input indicative of the geographic route relative to the reference map; processing said route input with respect to a reference coordinate system to generate processed route information indicative of the geographic route; and communicating said processed route information to the second device. The method may further involve receiving and processing processed route information, using the second device, the processing performed at least in part based on the reference coordinate system and an output reference map to generate route output indicative of the geographic route relative to the output reference map; and presenting said route output using the second device.

Abstract: A device for axially preloading a machine element that is arranged in a housing, with an annular steel spring that has an open hollow profile in cross-section, on which at least on one side is molded an annular collar that rests on the machine element and that has an axial contact surface, the steel spring being preloaded via a safety element against the machine element with a force that exceeds the operating force that occurs. A structurally simple device that ensures high preloading forces with advantageous tolerance compensation is achieved by the steel spring with an axisymmetrical, semi-circular section with an essentially uniform radius R1 undergoing transition indirectly or directly via a smaller radius R2 into the annular collar.

Abstract: A flame retardant composition and method for making flame retardant articles. The flame retardant composition can include a silicone polyetherimide, an fibrillated polytetrafluoroethylene, and a zinc borate. The silicone polyetherimide can be present in an amount of from about 99.6 to about 80.0 percent by weight. The silicone polyetherimide can have from about 5 to about 50 percent by weight dimethyl siloxane units, and less than about 100 ppm amine end groups. The fibrillated polytetrafluoroethylene can be present in an amount of from more than about 1.25 to about 5.0 percent by weight. The fibrillated polytetrafluoroethylene can be encapsulated in a polystyrene, a poly(styrene acrylonitrile), a poly(methyl methacrylate), a polycarbonate, a polyetherimide, a polysulfone, and combinations thereof. The zinc borate can be present in an amount of more than 0 to about 10 percent by weight.

Abstract: When deciding whether to fund a project, such as a movie, investors consider information such as what is often referred to as the “bankability” of people or entities attached to the project, such as the top-billed actors, the director, the producer, and/or the screenwriter. A system can collect information about people or entities and prior projects associated with those people or entities and use that information to calculate the bankability of those people or entities. Project developers can use the calculated bankability of the people or entities when deciding which people or entities to attach to in-development projects to increase the chance that the project will attract funding.

The compartment of the support is hinged to switch between a flat folded condition and an unfolded and open functional condition to receive an object. The system also can include a conditions capture engine for capturing individual-specific data corresponding to predetermined health conditions. The system can further include a modeling tool for combining the weighting factors with the individual-specific data.

Abstract: Methods and devices for implementing a camera restriction on a wireless handheld communication device. As more handheld devices incorporate camera functionalities, organizations and individuals with privacy concerns are more vulnerable to unauthorized disclosure. The camera restriction prevents a user from taking a picture of a subject if the device has not been steadily focused on the subject in question for a predetermined period of time. In short, this process extends the normal camera-taking procedure and thus requires the camera user to take pictures in a conspicuous manner—the rationale being that a camera user would be less likely to take unauthorized pictures if such actions could be easily recognized. The camera restriction can be communicated to the device via a wireless communication network. Additionally, the restrictions and boundaries can be communicated to the device as part of an IT security policy.

Ranking scores for content in a content collection may be based on a set of ranking components including history-dependent ranking components. Content recently added to the content collection may be disadvantaged relative to content with an established history.
