The holographic data storage medium includes a substrate; a holographic recording layer disposed on the substrate; and a cover layer covering the holographic recording layer. The holographic recording layer includes a data recording region including a plurality of data layers to which data is recorded, the data recording region in which interference fringes due to first and second beams are formed in different data layers in a depthwise direction; and a layer discrimination region for providing discrimination between the data layers.

Abstract: Provided is an apparatus and a method of restricting an access to an application module of a mobile wireless device. The apparatus for restricting an access to an application module of a mobile wireless device according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention includes an access restriction unit for receiving a request for an access to an application module from a basic module, and for restricting the access of the basic module to the application module when a restriction on the access is required. Further included is an access restriction determination unit for determining whether the restriction on the access of the basic module to the application module according to an access environment is required. Also included is an access environment determination unit for monitoring the access environment of the basic module to the application module and for providing the access restriction determination unit with a result of monitoring the access environment.

Abstract: Described herein is an animation authoring apparatus and method thereof for authoring an animation. The apparatus includes a storyboard editor that provides a storyboard editing display that a user may interact with to edit a storyboard, and to store the edited storyboard. The apparatus further includes a parser to parse syntax of the edited storyboard, and a rendering engine to convert the edited storyboard into a graphic animation based on the parsed syntax of the edited storyboard.

Abstract: A frequency detection apparatus and method for generating a stable clock signal synchronized with an input signal and a signal boost filter used in the frequency detection apparatus and method, the frequency detection apparatus includes a signal boost filter filtering out the high frequency component of an input signal and boosting the high frequency component, and a frequency detector receiving an input signal with the boosted high frequency component and a clock signal, detecting a frequency difference between the input signal and the clock signal, and producing a control voltage corresponding to the frequency difference. Accordingly, even when there is a big difference between the frequency of the input signal and an oscillating frequency, a frequency error can be stably detected. Thus, a stable clock signal can be obtained.

Abstract: A compatible near field optical recording/reproducing apparatus includes a solid immersion lens unit including a first lens, which has an aspherical surface in which light incident from the first light source is condensed, and a second lens, which realizes a high numerical aperture via a near field effect by light condensed by the first lens and has an aspherical surface. An effective beam size-controlling device controls an effective size of a light beam transmitted to the solid immersion lens unit such that either near field light or far field light is transmitted to an information storage medium by the solid immersion lens unit and a focal point adjusting optical system adjusts a focal position of light transmitted to the information storage medium according to the type of the information storage medium.

Abstract: A method for setting a path by a base station in a mobile communication system and a system thereof are provided. The base station measures quality of a link directly connected to the mobile terminal using the received signal, if a signal is directly received from a mobile terminal. If the signal is received via at least one relaying node, the base station calculates quality of an entire path determined taking quality of each link into account, depending on the signal received via the at least one relaying node. The base station compares the calculated quality of the entire path with the quality of the directly connected link, and determines an optimal path according to the comparison result. The base station sends a relaying request message to a relaying node corresponding to the optimal path. Upon receipt of a relaying response message from the relaying node, the base station configures new broadcast information and broadcasts the newly configured broadcast information.

Abstract: An apparatus, a system, and a method are provided to pay a dispensing fee to a pharmacy and configured to replenish a pharmacy's inventory with prescription drugs by a wholesaler at no cost. Rather than being replenished for any prescription drug dispensed to a patient, a pharmacy would be paid a dispensing fee. To compensate for the wholesaler for replenishing the pharmacy at no cost, the wholesaler would receive an administrative fee. Furthermore, order rights are maintained for each participating pharmacy and wholesaler and monitor and record the transfer of order rights from a pharmacy to a wholesaler and the execute or the use by the wholesaler of the order rights. The order rights may include, in the alternative, a right assigned to the pharmacy to replenish the prescription drug dispensed or a different prescription drug for credit.

Abstract: A method for managing states by a Media Access Control (MAC) layer in a wireless network is disclosed. The method includes determining next occurable physical interrupts for each of the states; configuring a link of the states according to the determination result; transitioning to a state to be linked next if a physical interrupt occurs in each state; and transitioning to an initial state if an timer interrupt occurs in each state. The MAC layer transitions to the initial state if a physical interrupt occurs in a last state among the linked states. The physical interrupt occurs in association with a physical event, and the timer interrupt occurs in association with a timer event.

Abstract: An information storage medium containing subtitles and a subtitle processing apparatus, where the information storage medium includes: audio-visual (AV) data; and subtitle data in which at least one subtitle text data and output style information designating an output form of the subtitle texts are stored with a text format. With this, output times of subtitle texts included in the text subtitle data can be overlapped, a subtitle file can be easily produced, and subtitles for an AV stream can be output with various forms.

Abstract: An apparatus and method of voice activity detection (VAD) are disclosed. To detect a target sound, a target sound detecting apparatus calculates the phase difference corresponding to each frequency component from a plurality of sound signals converted in frequency domain, calculates a characteristic value indicating possibility that the phase difference of the frequency component is within an allowable phase difference range of target sound calculated based on a direction angle of the target sound, and detects the presence and/or absence of target sound using the characteristic value.

Abstract: A transmission/reception apparatus and method for reducing the amount of feedback information transmitted from a receiver in a multi-user MIMO system are provided. A transmitter determines a reference Channel Quality Information (CQI) and transmits the reference CQI to the receiver. Upon receipt of the reference CQI, the receiver compares the received reference CQI with a CQI of a stream received from the transmitter, sets a channel, over which the stream is received, to at least one of Activation and Inactivation, according to the comparison result, and transmits the set channel information to the transmitter. As a result, the receiver, even though it receives multiple streams from the transmitter, transmits to the transmitter the at least one of Activation and Inactivation information of the channel separately for each individual stream, thereby contributing to a reduction in the total amount of feedback information.

Abstract: In a system for sharing hybrid resources in an independent network, each one of a plurality of stations preferably employs a sharing authority transferring protocol that allows the network control function to be moved from station to station depending on the network traffic. Although a distributed coordination method is normally used in the network, when an individual station determines that a real-time data stream is intended for the station, an apparatus having a method and data format for the use thereof allows control to be transferred to the targeted station. This allows the targeted station to control the sharing of the wireless hybrid resources using a centralized control method in a direct mode for the duration of the real-time service transmission, thereby optimizing network efficiency. As a result of using the distributed control authority of the present invention, a station may be freely subscribe/withdraw to/from the network.
