  • Patent number: 8074062
Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for using a server management program for an error configuration table, wherein a user loads the management program, which receives a Hardware Error Configuration Table (HECT) from baseboard management controller (BMC) firmware, the HECT table containing error control parameters for a hardware error event table. A replica of the HECT is maintained in SRAM using BMC firmware. The HECT is sent via the basic input output system (BIOS) during system power up. An interface is set up to allow the user to configure error event thresholds. The user can set preferred threshold of a system management requirement without rebooting system. If the user makes changes to the HECT, the management program sends the new HECT to BMC firmware to feedback the completion. A software SMI is issued to inform BIOS of HECT changes during the BMC completion. BIOS informs the operating system (OS) to discard and reload the new HECT.

  • Patent number: 8064861
Abstract: An asynchronous receiver system has multiple antennae and an asynchronous receiver circuit with a signal input. The asynchronous receiver circuit receives a wireless signal at the signal input and generates a first quality signal responsive to the received wireless signal. A switch selects one of the antennae for coupling to the input of the asynchronous receiver circuit responsive to a control signal. A controller receives the first quality signal and generates the switching control signal. The controller sequentially selects each one of the antennae, measures the first quality signal and starts a timer with a time value for the selected antenna. The controller selects a next one of the antennae if the measured first quality signal value is below a threshold value and the timer expires and receives a remainder of a data packet based on the measured first signal quality values for the plurality of antennae.

  • Patent number: 8007167
Abstract: A single chip wireless sensor (1) comprises a microcontroller (2) connected to a transmit/receive interface (3), which is coupled to a wireless antenna (4) by an L-C matching circuit. The sensor (1) senses gas or humidity and temperature. The device (1) is an integrated chip manufactured in a single process in which both the electronics and sensor components are manufactured using standard CMOS processing techniques, applied to achieve both electronic and sensing components in an integrated process. A Low-K material (57) with an organic polymer component is spun onto the wafer to form a top layer incorporating also sensing electrodes (60). This material is cured at 300° C., which is much lower than CVD temperatures. The polyimide when cured becomes thermoset, and the lower mass-to-volume ratio resulting in K, its dielectric constant, reducing to 2.9. The thermoset dielectric, while not regarded as porous in the conventional sense, has sufficient free space volume to admit enough gas or humidity for sensing.

  • Patent number: 7999520
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed that provide static phase shedding techniques to improve the efficiency of multi-phase voltage regulators within information handling systems by selecting the number of active phases for the multi-phase voltage regulators using circuit identifiers (IDs) for circuitry configured to be powered by the multi-phase voltage regulators, such as central processing units (CPUs). In one embodiment, processor identifier information related to installed CPUs is used to control the voltage regulator (VR) phase number to provide static phase shedding. This VR control can be implemented in a variety of ways, including the use of conventional analog multi-phase VR controllers and/or digital VR controllers. Dynamic phase shedding can also be used in conjunction with this static phase shedding to further reduce the number of active phases when a processor operates in a low power mode.
