  • Patent number: 6146574
Abstract: This invention concerns a composition comprising a blend of polyolefin with the reaction of a functionalized polyolefin and polyetheramine in which the polyetheramine is grafted into the functionalized polyolefin in a customary mixing apparatus. A process for producing the reaction product of functionalized polypropylene and polyetheramine by melting with polypropylene in a customary mixing apparatus is also disclosed. Blends of the present invention are advantageously useful to prepare paintable automotive body parts. This invention further includes dyeable polyolefin compositions containing the reaction product of functionalized polyolefin and polyetheramine. Dyeable polyolefin fibers, including polypropylene fibers, are disclosed, which may be made by melt spinning, and which may be employed to make woven and non-woven fabric.

  • Patent number: 6138760
Abstract: A treatment for wells and/or subterranean formations in which a pre-treatment fluid is introduced prior to a polymer-containing treatment fluid, such as a hydraulic fracturing fluid. The pre-treatment fluid may contain an enzyme and/or oxidative breaker effective to degrade the polymer in the polymer-containing treatment fluid. The enzyme or oxidative breaker of the enzyme pre-treatment fluid enhance degradation of polymer filter cake from the reservoir-side of the filter cake during flow-back of the treatment fluid.

  • Patent number: 6137372
Abstract: A method and apparatus for synthesizing high-frequency signals is disclosed that overcomes integration problem associated with prior implementations while meeting demanding phase noise and other impurity requirements. In one embodiment, a phase-locked loop (PLL) frequency synthesizer is disclosed having a voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) with a variable capacitance that includes a discretely variable capacitance in conjunction with a continuously variable capacitance. The discretely variable capacitance may provide coarse tuning adjustment of the variable capacitance, and the continuously variable capacitance may provide a fine tuning adjustment of the variable capacitance. In a more general terms, a frequency synthesizer is disclosed having a first variable and a second capacitance circuits and frequency control circuitry to coarsely tune the output frequency by adjusting the first control signal and to finely tune the output frequency by adjusting the second control signal.

  • Patent number: 6006956
Abstract: A bracket assembly is provided for supporting and stabilizing valves or other accessories that are attached to chemical canisters. Such valves and related connectors are subject to damage and resulting leakage due to forces applied to them during shipment, handling, installation and use. In order to reduce such damage, a rigid baseplate is provided that can be attached to the port tube of a standard canister. Rigid angle brackets may be connected to the baseplate and to the valves to provide a strong, rigid support to hold the valves position relative to the canister. Such a bracket assembly removes stresses from conduits and sealed couplings between the valves and the canister, thus preventing damage to the couplings due to the application of external forces to the valves. The invention is also applicable to support other sorts of accessories mounted on canisters of various types and sizes.

  • Patent number: 5870046
Abstract: An isolation system is provided that is suitable for use in telephony, medical instrumentation, industrial process control and other applications. Preferred embodiments of the invention comprise a capacitive isolation barrier across which a digital signal is communicated. The system provides a means of communication across the isolation barrier that is highly immune to amplitude and phase noise interference. Clock recovery circuitry may be employed on one side of the isolation barrier to extract timing information from the digital signal communicated across the barrier, and to filter the effects of phase noise introduced at the barrier. Delta-sigma converters may be disposed on both sides of the isolation barrier to convert signals between analog and digital domains. An isolated power supply may also be provided on the isolated side of the barrier, whereby direct current is generated in response to the digital data received across the isolation barrier.
