  • Patent number: 7039655
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an intelligent media router (IMR) for processing media that has been either natively created as data or has been digitized from another source. The IMR comprises a plurality of modules or engines that are interconnected in a trusted manner. The IMR can be utilized by an end-to-end system having an encoder, a system server, and a plurality of end clients. In addition, an IMR can be developed to be utilized with an integrated system to allow third party imaging systems and software to interface with the IMR. In addition, the IMR modules are designed to be able to communicate with other IMR modules in a trusted relationship. This trusted communication between the IMR modules shares digitized (data) media and routes, rights, and profiles within the IMR. The IMR looks at digitized (data) media at the digital media object (DMO) level and can perform route functions on a set of, or all DMOs that are sourced to or within the IMR.

  • Patent number: 7039911
Abstract: A virtual machine system residing on a native machine comprises application code in a virtual machine specific format, native methods in a native machine specific format, and a plurality of execution entities that execute the application code and the native methods in parallel. An execution entity manager assigns a native method to an execution entity for execution. Based on an evaluation of the potential behavior of the native method, the execution entity manager assigns the native method to an execution entity optimized for the needs of the native method and the virtual machine system. This allows native methods that execute correctly in parallel to be assigned to an execution entity optimized to minimize system resources. Native methods that interfere with the parallel execution of other execution entities are assigned to an execution entity optimized to ensure correct native method operation.

  • Patent number: 6998783
Abstract: An inductive output tube (IOT) provides improved efficiency and larger bandwidth. In one embodiment, an IOT is provided with an electron gun that generates an electron beam, a tube body, a collector for collecting the electron beam, and an extended-interaction output circuit. The electron beam travels through the tube body and the extended-interaction output circuit. The extended-interaction output circuit is located within the tube body. The extended-interaction output circuit comprises a short-circuited resonant structure. The extended-interaction output circuit is used for reducing undesired components of a radio frequency (RF) wave, increasing desired components of the RF wave, and slowing down the propagation of the RF wave. (That is the circuit increases the integral of the electric field along the path of the beam electrons while decreasing the stored energy associated with those fields.) The extended-interaction output circuit also provides the IOT with larger bandwidth operation.

  • Patent number: 6991773
Abstract: A hydrogen storage medium is provided, where the medium is comprised of boron oxide and closely related compounds such as orthoboric acid, metaboric acid, hydrated boric acid, and disodium borohydrate. The medium is substantially an amorphous glassy network, albeit with local regions of order, pores, and networks that provide surface area. Hydrogen is adsorbed by the medium with a heat of adsorption of about 9 kJ/mol to about 13 kJ/mol, a value which is higher than that of the heat of adsorption of hydrogen on carbon. The value for the heat of adsorption of hydrogen on the inventive storage medium is provided by computation, and corroborated by experimental observation. The higher heat of adsorption of the medium provides for operation at temperatures higher temperatures higher than those provided by carbon.
