    Abstract: A transcutaneous nerve stimulator as disclosed that is useful for suppression of organic pain. The stimulator device is relatively small in overall dimensions and is therefore portable yet provides a rectangular waveform with the output signal produced being sufficient to drive a capacitive resistance load of at least 2.2K ohms in parallel with 0.1Mfd with a maximum rise and fall time of 12 microseconds. The device is powered by a pair of NI-CD batteries providing a 2.5 volt input and produces a maximum 80 volt peak pulse output having a maximum duration of .10 milliseconds at a pulse rate between 20pps and 180pps. Potentiometers are provided to vary the pulse rate, the duty cycle, and output pulse amplitude as is necessary or desirable for a particular patient.

    Abstract: Method and apparatus for trimming cylindrical articles, particularly can bodies, to a predetermined longitudinal length by sequentially feeding such cylindrical articles into carriage pockets rotating around a main shaft synchronously with an axially aligned plunger at one end of each carriage pocket and a similarily aligned mandrel at the other end of the carriage pocket. At predetermined positions, the plunger moves into the aligned carriage pocket and pushes a cylindrical article therein onto an aligned mandrel which is rotated around its own axis as well as around the main shaft. As the mandrel rotates, a fixed arcuate blade which cooperates with a cutting edge defined in the mandrel is engaged to shear an annulus portion from the end of the cylindrical article thereby trimming the cylindrical article to a predetermined and repeatable length. Upon severing of the annulus, a fixed cutter blade engages the annulus to transversely cut the annulus into an open ring.

    Abstract: A sightless indicating system and method is disclosed that is useful as an indicating device for diverse equipment, including equipment such as an electronic calculator, and is particularly useful by a blind person. When utilized as a part of an electronic calculator, a standard calculator keyboard is modified to include a sign key and an output key so that an operator can initiate output indications and determine the sign of such indications in addition to initiating the customary numerical and function inputs. The customary numerical and function inputs are processed in conventional manner except that the calculator output is converted to a sightless indicating form, such as audible signals indicative of output.

    Abstract: A system is disclosed for identifying articles emanating in a predetermined sequence from a plurality of sources and formed into rows prior to conveyance to an identification area. The system is particularly useful for identifying glass bottles and, more particularly, for remote marking of defective glass bottles that emanate from glass forming molds so that the defective bottles can be later separated from acceptable ware. The electronic system utilized generates a series of pulses corresponding to formation of each row of bottles to be conveyed and these pulses are coupled to a shift register used for signal delay with the shift register also receiving pulses that are timewise related to the rate of row conveyance. The delayed pulse output from the shift register is coupled through a delay selector switch and fine adjust delay so that the pulse output is delayed a time equivalent to that required from formation of each conveyed row until that conveyed row arrives at the marking, or identification, area.

    Abstract: A battery operated fire detection unit that is capable of independent monitoring through sensing of smoke with the unit maintaining monitoring capabilities over long periods of time. A smoke detector senses the presence of smoke indicative of a fire and, when above a predetermined threshold, produces an electrical output signal that is coupled through latch circuitry and a logic gate to an audible alarm, such as a horn. An oscillator is also provided, the output of which is coupled through a differentiator to a logic gate, which gate also receives the output from the latch circuitry connected with the smoke detector. In the absence of a sensed fire condition, a light is periodically energized at a rate dependent upon the oscillator frequency to indicate that the system is operable, and the light is constantly energized to indicate the sensed presence of fire.
