Abstract: With this invention, at least one of a video file containing video information, a still picture file containing still picture information, and an audio file containing audio information and a management file having management information on a control method of reproducing the information in the file are recorded on an information storage medium. This realizes a data structure that causes the recording and deleting places on the information storage medium to correspond spuriously to places on a single tape, such as a VTR tape. Use of the data structure provides users with an easy-to-use interface.
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for source language comprehension designed for a listener mastering a target language, which consists in causing the listener to listen to a statement, consisting of a series of several contents, in the source language and in displaying simultaneously with the listening of the statement a succession of notations marking the succession of contents in the source language, showing a notation marking a content only as from the time when it is being heard and showing, a series of inscriptions in the target language which corresponds to the full statement. The method is characterized in that it consists in showing the whole series of inscriptions before the beginning of the statement.
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the partial or complete separation of a mixture comprising hydrogen chloride and phosgene, possibly solvents and possibly low boilers and inerts as are typically obtained in the preparation of isocyanates by reaction of amines with phosgene, which comprises firstly carrying out a partial or complete condensation of phosgene, then a distillation or stripping step in a column to remove the hydrogen chloride from the bottom product phosgene and subsequently a scrub of the top product hydrogen chloride by means of the process solvent to absorb the phosgene in the process solvent. An after-purification by means of adsorption on activated carbon or by another suitable method can subsequently be carried out to remove solvent residues.

Abstract: A temperature fixed-point cell is configured with a crucible composed of carbon and a fixed-point material enclosed in the crucible. The fixed-point material has a peritectic structure of carbon and a carbon compound. A thermometer is calibrated by installing the temperature fixed-point crucible in a furnace, increasing or decreasing the ambient temperature thereof, measuring the temperature of the temperature fixed-point cell with the thermometer, observing the state of temperature change, and using this state of temperature change as a basis for the calibration. This invention is aimed at realizing a fixed point in the temperature range exceeding the copper point and accomplishing great improvement in accuracy in the calibration of radiation thermometers, thermocouples and all thermometers used in high temperature ranges.

Abstract: An arrangement and a method of localizing active speakers in a video conference includes a localization device that locates at least one microphone relative to the camera, while the at least one microphone in turn localizes the relative positions of audio sources. As the microphones are usually positioned close to the audio source in a video conference, the ratio of the distance between microphones relative to the distance between table microphone and audio source is reduced. Thus, the microphones are able to determine the positions of the audio sources with a higher resolution than if placed close to the camera. When the respective positions of the microphones relative to the camera and the audio source are known, the position of the audio source relative to the camera is then determined by means of geometrical calculations.

Abstract: A data structure for representing metadata describes the content of at least one shot or sub-shot of information material. The data structure comprises a volume identification defining a data carrier on which the information material is contained, at least one shot identification defining the shot or sub-shot within the material, and at least one type of metadata associated with the content of the shot or sub-shot. The volume identification is arranged at a first hierarchical level and the shot identification is arranged at a lower hierarchical level and the metadata describing the shot is arranged with respect to the shot hierarchical level. The data structure provides an efficient facility for communicating metadata between metadata nodes including application programs which use the metadata. The metadata is identified on the basis of a shot and volume on which the information material which the metadata describes is contained.

Abstract: A radiation dose modulation apparatus controls radiation dose in coronary CT angiography that utilizes an X-ray CT system including a multi-row detector. The apparatus is provided with a tube current modulation table storage unit which classifies standard deviation values of CT numbers calculated from a pre-contrast cardiac CT image into a number of levels, and stores a table in which the levels correspond to tube current modulation values, and a processing unit which calculates standard deviations of CT numbers from at least one pre-contrast cardiac image, identifies the tube current value corresponding to the standard deviations from the tube current modulation table, and controls a scan operation at the time of CT imaging for obtaining a post-contrast coronary image in accordance with the identified tube current value.
