Abstract: This invention relates generally to a packet recovery algorithm for real-time (live) multi-media communication over packet-switched networks, such as the Internet. Such multi-media communication includes video, audio, data or any combination thereof. More specifically, the invention comprises a forward error correction (FEC) algorithm that addresses both random and burst packet loss and errors, and that can be adjusted to tradeoff the recoverability of missing packets and the latency incurred. The transmitter calculates parity packets for the rows, columns and diagonals of a block of multi-media data packets using the exclusive or (XOR) operation and communicates the parity packets along with the multi-media data packets to the receiver. The receiver uses the parity packets to recover missing multi-media data packets in the block. The FEC algorithm is designed to be able to recover long bursts of consecutive missing data packets.

Abstract: A shared lossless Haar transform and an appended Haar transform are combined to form a lossless extended Haar transform in a pipeline architecture for providing fast lossless compressed data that is reversible. The extended Haar transform also provide intrinsic decorrelation for decorrelating corrected randomly generated numbers.
Abstract: A filter or lens for a star tracking telescope includes a clear center portion and an attenuating peripheral portion where the peripheral portion attenuation of off-axis images is nonidentical through any radial line extending from a center of the filter or lens to a circumference edge of the filter or lens for passing on-axis images with high signal to noise ratios and for attenuating off-axis images for attenuating but not completely blocking the off-axis images, which telescope with such a filter or lens is well suited for improved star tracking systems, and well suited for reducing off-axis glare in handheld optical apparatus such as binoculars, telescopes, cameras, and eyeglasses.
Abstract: A solar cell regulator in a nanosatellite includes a pulse width modulated DC-DC boost converter and a peak power tracking controller for converting solar cell power to bus power for charging of system batteries and powering loads while the controller controls the pulse width modulation operation of the converter for sensing solar cell currents and voltages along a power characteristic curve of the solar cell for peak power tracking, for determining any power data point, including a peak power point, an open circuit voltage point, and a short circuit current point along the power characteristic curve of the solar cell, and for communicating the power data to a satellite processor for monitoring the performance of the solar cell during operational use of the satellite.

Abstract: The track system of the present invention provides dolly track whose joints are substantially seamless, providing a substantially smooth riding surface over the entire length of joined sections of track. The ferrule design of the invention provides ridged piece to piece joining, eliminating pinching and hinging points. This allows multiple assembled track pieces to be moved without damage. The system uses self locking track buckles. A folding cross member system may be folded for ease of movement and placement. In one embodiment, the track is comprised of a carbon fiber hybrid composite with lighter weight and greater strength than prior art steel or aluminum tracks. In addition the track of the present invention does not bend, eliminating the need to reshape or repair the track each time before use.
