Patent number: 8238936Abstract: An apparatus for detecting and timing a transmitting device is disclosed. The device includes a receiving system receiving a signal containing at least a preamble code of a known length and at least one pulse within a receive window after the preamble code, a circuit receiving the at least one pulse comprising a zero-crossing circuit for indicting a zero-voltage crossing of the at least one pulse and a trigger device for latching the indication of zero-voltage crossing, and a ripple circuit counter, receiving the latched indication of said zero-voltage crossing and associating a time to the receipt of the latched indication. A system for detecting and locating a transmitting device is further disclosed. The system includes a plurality of sensor apparatus each determining a reception time of a signal and a processor for determining a location based on groups of the reception times.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 2008Date of Patent: August 7, 2012Assignee: BINJ Laboratories, Inc.Inventors: Barry Nadler, Joseph S. Patent number: 8223101Abstract: A flat panel display is disclosed. The flat panel display includes a plurality of electrically addressable pixels, a plurality of thin-film transistor driver circuits each been electrically coupled to an associated at least one of the pixels, respectively, a passivating layer on the thin-film transistor driver circuits and at least partially around the pixels, a conductive frame on the passivating layer, and a plurality of nanostructures on the conductive frame, wherein, creating a voltage difference between the pixels and the conductive frame by addressing one of the pixels using the associated driver circuit causes the nanostructures to emit electrons that induce a corresponding one of the pixels to emit light.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 2008Date of Patent: July 17, 2012Assignee: Copytele, Inc.Inventors: Frank DiSanto, Denis Krusos

Patent number: 8222813Abstract: A vacuum flat panel display including: a plurality of electrically addressable pixels; a plurality of thin-film transistor driver circuits each being electrically coupled to an associated at least one of the pixels, respectively; a passivating layer on the thin-film transistor driver circuits and at least partially around the pixels; a conductive frame on the passivating layer, said frame and pixel area coated with an insulator; and, a plurality of cathode emitters are deposited on the coated frame while phosphor is deposited on the coated pixel; wherein, exciting the cathode emitters and addressing one of the pixels using the associated driver circuit causes the emitted electrons to induce one of the pixels to emit light. By introducing a noble gas or mixture, and a ML layer having a DC, AC or pulsed voltage applied thereto, one creates a plasma to form a sheath boundary at the insulator causing electron multiplication and increased illumination.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2008Date of Patent: July 17, 2012Assignee: Copytele, Inc.Inventors: Denis Krusos, Anthony Campisi

Patent number: 8215791Abstract: An illuminating headlamp consisting of a headband and at least one optical device providing illumination at a known distance from said optical device attached to said headband. Each optical device consists of a housing having an open first end and an open second end. There is a light emitting device attached to a mounting which is attached to the second end causing said light emitting device to be orientated at a known angle to an axis of said housing. At least one optically transparent lens is incorporated into said first end, and a means for adjusting said optically transparent lens in order to cause a focal point of the lens to be positioned behind said light emitting device, wherein a zone of substantially uniform illumination is projected at said known distance.Type: GrantFiled: February 1, 2010Date of Patent: July 10, 2012Assignee: Designs for Vision, Inc.Inventors: Richard E. Feinbloom, Kenneth Braganca, Peter Yan

Patent number: 8120550Abstract: The present invention relates to a display device that employs edge emitters as a source for pixel electrons. The edge emitters allow the viewing glass plate to be made very small or eliminated, thereby substantially reducing the size of or eliminating the spacers typically utilized in conventional display devices and thereby enabling a simple and compact assembly structure. In one embodiment a pixel configuration comprises a phosphor area disposed between a plurality edge emitters, each of which are associated with tynes that are adapted to reduce the distance between the emitters and that separate the phosphor area into segments such that the emitters emit electrons when the voltage between a phosphor segment and the an emitter exceed a threshold voltage to cause the phosphor segment to emit light.Type: GrantFiled: August 4, 2006Date of Patent: February 21, 2012Assignee: Copytele, Inc.Inventors: Frank J. DiSanto, Denis A. Krusos
