Abstract: A cable connector comprises a screw socket, a screw nut, a packing within the screw nut and an anti-rotation bushing between the packing and the screw nut. The screw nut, packing and bushing are provided with conical portions respectively which have the same angle of taper and substantially the same axial length. Between a cylindrical portion of the packing and the threaded portion of the screw nut an annular recess is formed into which a cylindrical rim of the bushing protrudes. The screw nut can easily be screwed on the socket only by hand because of the low friction effect between the bushing and the screw nut, thereby deforming the packing whereby a fluid-tight seal between the socket and the cable is gained and the cable is secured against twisting during the screw-operation and secured against axial movement at the end of said screw-operation.
Abstract: An automatic switching-off arrangement for the internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle comprises a sensor which senses the neutral position of the gear control lever or the idle running condition of the engine or the standstill condition of the vehicle. When the sensor detects such a condition a delay switch is energized which activates a switch-off means after a predetermined period so that the current supply to the ignition coil is interrupted or a half-compression device is operated and the engine is stopped. Thereby, fuel can be saved and pollution of the atmosphere can be reduced.
Abstract: In the production of a compression-proof shelter a semi-finished car garage is used consisting of reinforced lightweight thin concrete walls and being open at the front side. It is required that a personal living chamber is partitioned off against a filtering chamber by a compression-proof thick cross wall. If such a cross wall would be prefabricated the housing would become heavy and cannot easily be transported. Therefore only a pair of thin cross walls are installed leaving a hollow chamber therebetween. The housing is installed with all technical equipment and then is transported to the place of use and there the hollow chamber is filled with concrete avoiding any necessity to work within the housing. The cross wall can be prefabricated with all necessary technical equipment and is pushed into the housing before or after having been transported to the place of use.
Abstract: In a punching and bending machine the driving mechanism 10 for a reciprocating a tool slide 50 comprises a pair of cam plate and push rod arrangements 20, 38 and 22, 58 one for the working stroke and the other for the return stroke. They move in an oil filling contained in a hermetically sealed housing 28. The contacting ends of the push rods 38, 58 are provided with carbide tippings 46, 60 and the peripheral surfaces of the cam plates 20, 22 are hardened or nickel-plated. The driving mechanism can be used in high speed machines making at least 2000 strokes per minute.
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for insuring the tight seal of a closed space filled with a gas at high pressure through one wall of which an outlet rod is positioned, said outlet rod being subject to reciprocating rectilinear movement. Between the walls of the closed space and the outlet rod, two dynamic seals and a rolling diaphragm are successively positioned. Between these two seals, the outlet rod has a shoulder such that in combination with two non-return valves, it acts as a pump which sucks the gas from the chamber formed by the intermediate seal and the rolling diaphragm and delivers this gas to the closed space, thereby maintaining a relatively low pressure on the rolling diaphragm despite leakage of the seals and valves. This invention is particularly applicable to Stirling engines.
