Abstract: A sender-specified courtesy notification scheme to delay notification by a receiving device of the receipt of a data message is disclosed. A sender may specify a notification parameter defining a delay and send the parameter in association with the data message to a recipient. The recipient's receiving device evaluates the parameter and notifies in response. Local notification data defined by the recipient may also be evaluated. Received data messages subject to delayed notification may be hidden by the receiving device or quietly displayed (e.g. as per other received messages) until the expiry of the delay. Notification parameters and data can be formulated as one or more rules which may take into account the current location of the receiving device. A notification delay may be ignored in certain situations depending on recent use of the receiving device.

Abstract: Bit-transparent muxing of an input signal for transport through an optical communications network is provided. A fixed length container of the optical communications network is defined, which includes an overhead and a payload. A stuffing ratio (?) is based on a line rate of the input signal and a data rate of the container. A number (NFS) of fixed stuffs is computed based on the stuffing ratio (?). The input signal and NFS fixed stuffs are inserted into the payload of the container, and the computed number NFS stored in the container's overhead.

Abstract: The blade retention system comprises an annular sealing plate and a plurality of spaced-apart blade retention tabs having opposite first and second ends and a radially-orientated corrugated profile. Abstract: A method of bagging an article into a bag comprising: providing a web of stretchable film folded in two so as to provide first and second superposed bag panels, selecting a length of stretchable film as a function of the article to be bagged, cutting the film at the selected length, sealing the bag panels at the length to form a bag having an opening for receiving the article, stretching the bag in a taut open state, and lowering the bag in the taut open state thereof over the article.
Abstract: The system is used for taxiing an aircraft and comprises at least one multi-spool gas turbine engine, the engine having an electrical motor in a torque-driving engagement with a low pressure spool of the engine. The low pressure spool has a propulsor connected thereon to generate thrust when rotated. Abstract: A temperature control system for controlling the rate of flow of a flammable fluid at generally constant pressure is disclosed. The system may include a flow control apparatus that is free of a regulator mechanism, for affecting the flow of the fluid. The flow control apparatus may be operable between at least a first flow rate and a second flow rate, and may have at least one upstream opening and at least one downstream opening. The system may also include a first burner in fluid communication with the downstream opening of the flow control apparatus and a conduit in fluid communication at one end thereof with the upstream opening of the flow control apparatus, and configured at the other end thereof for connection to a fuel supply. A thermocouple may be located in the vicinity of the burner, for converting a sensed thermal state into an electrical signal.
Abstract: A method and system for monitoring the quality of a given gas mixture being transmitted under pressure by throttling a sample of the gas mixture to a representative pressure and measuring the hydrocarbon dew point of the sample at the representative pressure. The measured hydrocarbon dew point is indicative of the cricondentherm of the gas mixture. The representative pressure is pre-selected to provide a pre-selected margin of error between measured hydrocarbon dew points of a set of representative gas mixtures at the representative pressure and respective cricondentherms of the set of representative gas mixtures.

Abstract: A primary flow of the burner air stream is slowed relatively to a secondary flow of the air stream. Fuel is injected at a lower rate into the primary flow, which generates a more stable flame, and fuel is injected at a higher rate into the secondary flow, which generates a stronger flame. If the stronger flame is blown out, fuel in the secondary flow can be lit by the flame from the primary flow.
