Abstract: An apparatus for purifying and humidifying air which enables separate supply of purified air and humidified air and controls the amount of humidified air discharged and which includes dual flow paths to increase the efficiency of air transfer. The apparatus includes a case having a suction port through which external air is introduced thereinto and a discharge port through which the introduced air is discharged, a circulation fan for causing the introduced air to flow toward the discharge port, a filter unit disposed in the case to filter the introduced air, a humidification unit disposed at a low position in the case to supply the air passed through the filter unit with moisture, and a flow path control unit disposed between the suction port and the humidification unit to control flow of the air passed through the filter unit.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for detecting a communication abnormality in a multi-type air conditioner is disclosed. The apparatus, which performs data communication with peripheral devices having an outdoor unit, a plurality of indoor units, a repeater and a wired remote controller, includes a level converter for serving as an interface to allow multiplex communication between the apparatus and the peripheral devices; and an abnormality detector connectable with the peripheral devices from a remote site through the level converter, the abnormality detector detecting a communication abnormality in the peripheral devices by automatically changing an operation mode thereof into a slave or master mode depending on whether an operation mode of each of the peripheral devices connected thereto is the master or slave mode. Thus, when the communication abnormality occurs, the communication abnormality can be detected in a convenient way by using the apparatus.

Abstract: Tire for motor-vehicles provided with a tread pattern wear indicator, where the tire tread is formed by pattern parts in the form of circumferential ribs and/or in the form of blocks and contains at least one circumferential groove, wherein the indicator is arranged in the surface part of the pattern in the circumferential ribs or blocks, which are in contact with the road surface, and is in the form of sipes running radially into tire tread, while the greatest depth of the indicator sipes is smaller than the depth (H) of the circumferential groove. The tread pattern wear indicator (3) consists of seven radial sipes of three different depths, created and arranged so that they form the Arabic numeral 8 in segment depiction.

The prosthetic device comprises at least one layer of highly oriented fibers, a base component and a stabilization area provided in between. Said fibers are aligned to more than 50% in a direction perpendicular to the base component.

Abstract: A method for analyzing extracellular body fluids as to the presence of the Y-box protein YB-1 and fragments thereof, which are secreted by the cell, in order to determine inflammatory processes and malignant diseases in mammals. Also, it relates to the use of YB-1 as a marker and a kit for detecting YB-1, polypeptide fragments of YB-1, and combinations thereof. Also disclosed is a pharmaceutical composition which is used for treating inflammatory processes and malignant diseases and which contains the YB-1 protein, fragments of protein YB-1, and antibodies against the YB-1 protein and/or fragments of protein YB-1.

Abstract: A body bag for water retrieval of human remains is provided. The body bag is lightweight and disposable. The body bag is made of a material having a hole ratio per unit weight of material in a particular range that permits rapid water drainage yet provides sufficient strength and integrity to the body bag, and reduces cross-contamination. The body bag can have a skid pad on an exterior surface as an aid to lifting the body bag out of the water and over the gunwale or sides of a recovery vehicle. The body bag also can have large handles for ease of gripping and to attach buoyancy devices. The body bag further can have a snag line around its periphery.

Abstract: The present invention provides a glove for a wearer. The glove has a hand covering portion and an arm covering portion connected to the hand covering portion. The arm covering portion has a number of segments with each connected to one another by a pivot. The arm covering portion in a first position covers and protects the wearer. The arm covering portion in a second position forms an obstruction to prevent a liquid from contacting the wearer with the obstruction trapping the liquid therein.

The present invention provides for a multi-stage motor design having a number of discreet rotor and stator elements on a common shaft. This configuration provides for the simplest of magnetic structures and produces a powerful magnetic flux modelling design technique that is used to further optimize the motor design and subsequent control logic.
