  • Patent number: 8237498
Abstract: According to an embodiment, a Doherty amplifier system has a first Doherty amplifier and a second Doherty amplifier. The first Doherty amplifier operates in a SISO communication mode and in a MIMO communication mode. The first Doherty amplifier comprises a first carrier amplifier and a first peak amplifier. The second Doherty amplifier operates in the MIMO communication mode but not operates in the SISO communication mode. The second Doherty amplifier comprises a second carrier amplifier and a second peak amplifier. A distance between the first carrier amplifier and the second carrier amplifier is less than any of a distance between any of the first carrier amplifier and the second peak amplifier and any of the first peak amplifier and the second peak amplifier. In the SISO communication mode, heat generated by the first Doherty amplifier is conducted to the second Doherty amplifier to warm up the second Doherty amplifier.

  • Patent number: 8233485
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method in a communication network for connecting at least one application server (AS) (213) of an internet protocol multimedia subsystem (IMS) (200) to an intelligent network (IN) (100) through an interface unit (301). The IMS (200) comprises a call server control function (CSCF) unit (205) connected to the at least one AS (213) arranged for processing call signaling. In the method the interface unit (301) directs the call signaling to the at least one AS (213) through the CSCF unit (205) and the at least one AS (213) processes the call signaling and sends the processed call signaling through the CSCF unit (205) back to the interface unit (301). Based on the information received in the call signaling processed by the at least one AS (213), the interface unit (301) then directs the call to a destination.

  • Patent number: 8229203
Abstract: A plurality of PCS values are determined for a document having an area of interest containing critical data and a background image. Reflectance values distributed across the document are obtained and PCS threshold values corresponding to a plurality of locations on the document are stored in memory. Respective PCS values of a plurality of target portions of the surface are determined, each respective PCS value based on a reflectance value of the corresponding target portion and a reflectance value of a corresponding region located adjacent to the target portion, each of the regions being different for each target portion, each PCS value assigned a location representative of the location of the target portion, the size of the region being greater than the size of the target portion. The stored PCS threshold values are compared with the calculated PCS values to determine the acceptability of the background image.

  • Patent number: 8227256
Abstract: Two-color (two-photon) excitation with two confocal excitation beams is demonstrated with a Raman shifter as excitation light source. Two-color excitation fluorescence is obtained from Coumarin 6H dye sample (peak absorption=394 nm, peak fluorescence=490 nm) that is excited using the first two Stokes outputs (683 nm, 954 nm, two-color excitation=398 nm) of a Raman shifter pumped by a 6.5 nsec pulsed 532 nm-Nd:YAG laser (Repetition rate=10 Hz). The two Stokes pulses overlap for a few nanoseconds and two-color fluorescence is generateven with focusing objectives of low numerical apertures (NA?0.4). We observed the linear dependence of the two-color fluorescence signal with the product of the average intensities of the two Stokes excitation beams. The two-color fluorescence distribution is strongly localized around the common focus of the confocal excitation beams.

  • Patent number: 8219404
Abstract: A method and apparatus for identifying a speaker within a captured audio signal from a collection of known speakers. The method and apparatus receive or generate voice representations for each known speakers and tag the representations according to meta data related to the known speaker or to the voice. The representations are grouped into one or more groups according to the indices. When a voice to be recognized is introduced, characteristics are determined according to which the groups are prioritized, so that the representations participating only in part of the groups are matched against the voice to be identified, thus reducing identification time and improving the statistical significance.

  • Patent number: 8210100
Abstract: Cooking apparatus having first and second platens with product recognition. A positioning mechanism moves the second platen toward the first. A detector senses the second platen making contact with a food product disposed on the first platen and provides a signal. A controller uses the signal to measure the travel distance of the second platen. The product thickness is a function of the travel distance, which is used to select a cooking procedure for the food product. The controller then executes the selected cooking procedure to cook the food product. The detector can include a micro switch, proximity sensor, touch sensor, strain sensor, thermal sensor, optical sensor, sonar sensor or positioning load change sensor.

  • Patent number: 8206652
Abstract: The present invention provides a flow duct type jet reactor and a process for preparing isocyanates using it. The flow duct type jet reactor situates flow ducts in inner feed pipe which form whirlpool and reinforce vortex, thereby amine steam rapidly admixes and reacts with phosgene, and the byproducts are reduced. In addition, the present process uses a jet-absorption apparatus which rapidly cools the high temperature gas discharged from the reactor to a temperature at which the product is thermally stable, and at the same time provides negative pressure for the reaction process of the system, and thus saving bulky vacuum system.
