  • Patent number: 5597958
Abstract: There is disclosed a device for testing the cure properties of a visco-elastic material sample enclosed under pressure between heated dies and on the top only of a rotor. The rotor overlying a cured elastomer sealing and heat-sink member subjects the sample to oscillatory shear, and the torque is measured as an indication of the viscosity of the sample.

  • Patent number: 5568830
Abstract: There is disclosed a safety tire for motor vehicles which is comprised of a cord-reinforced body having a pair of generally radially extending outer sidewalls and a third center wall. The three walls terminate in inextensible tire beads which are adapted to seat on a rim and to form therewith two side-by-side, axially arranged, airtight chambers. The rim has two axially outer bead seats, and an axially inner bead seat formed by flanges each curving toward a respective tire chamber.

  • Patent number: 4775561
Abstract: A flanged tank (1) is sealed by a covering of fiber-resin composites (16,17). At each tank flange (4,5), the composite (17) extends continuously from a point on one tank half shell (2), across the flange (4,5), to a point on the other tank half shell (3). The composite (17) is pressed and conformed to the flange surfaces (9) and flange end (10) by means of a clamping member (30) incorporated with the composite (17) by curing.

  • Patent number: 4694843
Abstract: A flexible tubular finger-end sheath has a cavity comprised of an open-end finger-gripping portion and a closed-end protector portion separated by a finger-stopping barrier. The walls of the protector portion converge and terminate in a truncated pressing face at the closed end. Additional stiffening may be provided to the protector-portion by a longitudinal rib thereon.

  • Patent number: 4407772
Abstract: A method is disclosed for forming a contoured disk wheel by placing a maturated fiber-reinforced resin cylinder between male mold members and encircling mold members, closing the mold members about the cylinder causing it to flow axially and radially, and curing it.

  • Patent number: 4394033
Abstract: In an inflatable occupant-restraint system in a vehicle, a generator for producing fluid under pressure is so placed that a portion of the generator is outside the cushion and has a resilient venting means for dumping increasing fractions of gas volume outside the cushion at increasing operating temperatures.

  • Patent number: 4369983
Abstract: In a trailer having two steerable wheels, there is provided a device which, in response to the lateral acceleration of a turn, applies a steering force to the wheels such that the tires generate a side force toward the center of the turn which is equal and opposite to that of the trailer resulting from the acceleration. As a consequence, no net force is exerted on the tow vehicle by the trailer, preserving its handling characteristics. The application is either through a mass on the trailer, or through use of the mass of the trailer itself.
