Abstract: A ball, inflatable with a gas using an inflation needle, has a substantially hollow gas-impervious skin with an aperture to allow passage of inflation air. A valve member is selectively seatable in the aperture for retaining the gas and allowing insertion of the inflation needle threrethrough and removable from the aperture to allow rapid release of the inflation gas. A radial flange formed at one end of the valve member allows for easy insertion and removal of the valve member from the aperture.

The decorative board is formed with a gripping hook member in its inner wall, and on the other hand, the body of headrest is at its rear surface formed with a cut-away area through which is exposed a part of securing rod embedded in the headrest body. The gripping hook member is snap fitted over such exposed part of securing rod in the headrest body, whereby the decorative board is firmly attached to the rear side of the headrest at a given position precisely.
Abstract: The invention describes a dart target device for use with a dart board. In the preferred embodiment, the dart practice device is attached to the bullseye of the dart board and can be rotated around the dart board to overlie different numbered target segments of a dart board. This device may be utilized as a practice device to help a user to become more proficient at hitting the doubles and triples rings of the dart board as well as the bullseye. Alternatively, the device may be provided with various target zones thereon, which would allow the user to play various dart games therewith. The device includes mechanisms to secure it to the dart board at the desired orientation thereon. There also may be included a mechanism to selectively rotate the device on the dart board automatically, to facilitate throwing practice or to provide alternative games to be played with the device.
Abstract: The present invention is generally directed to an apparatus and method of echo identification wherein the sources of echoes generated from interface boundaries in a medium may be more effectively identified in the processing of obtained waveform data to generate higher resolution in the obtained data. The method of the present invention is particularly useful for performing ultrasound reflectometry and medical sonography by obtaining data representative of a medium being studied and suppressing signals from overlapping echo waveforms generated from obstacles adjacent an object under test. More particularly, the method of the invention enables the sources of such echo waveforms to be more effectively identified to yield an indication of the contribution of overlapping echoes to generate higher resolution data signals. The processing includes generating a power spectral estimate of the data which is utilized to obtain a phase estimate thereof.
Abstract: A flotation assembly designed to keep an individual afloat in water comprising a size adjustable harness adapted to fit the torso of an individual, to which are attached bottle closure devices. The closure devices are designed to have empty bottles inserted therein so as to form a substantially water-tight seal. The number of attached closure devices, and the size of the bottles inserted therein are chosen so that the degree of buoyancy desired is obtained, given the size of the individual and the purpose for which the buoyancy is required. Different types of closure devices are disclosed.
Abstract: New polyphenylated polynuclear aromatic diamines, such as 1,3-bis[4-aminophenyl]-2,3,5-triphenylbenzene, a process for their manufacture and their use as polycondensation components for the manufacture of polyamide, polyamide-imide and polyimide polymers are described. The polymers obtained with the aromatic diamines according to the invention are readily soluble, rigid-rod polymers and are distinguished by outstanding modulus, tensile compression strength, energy absorption, coefficient of expansion and electrical properties.
Abstract: Olefins are reacted with carbon monoxide and hydrogen to produce aldehydes to the near exclusion of alcohols in the presence of a solid phase catalyst consisting essentially of one or more sulfided Group VIII metals.
Abstract: A catalytic process for free radically induced polymerization and graft copolymerization of a free radically polymerizable monomer onto a compound in the presence of a free radical initiator, an organic catalyst and in the presence or absence of an organic diluent where the organic catalyst is an alkenyl substituted cyanurate or isocyanurate and composition thereof.
Abstract: The invention relates to a cooking oven for mass production of food products and a method for cooking food products. The oven includes an enclosure housing which forms a cooking chamber, having an endless pervious conveyor therein upon which food products are transported through the cooking chamber. The conveyor is arranged to provide a helically extending path over which food products will travel to increase dwell time within the cooking chamber while taking less floor space. A heated gaseous cooking medium is introduced into the cooking chamber and is circulated through an annulus formed by the helically extending conveyor to achieve high heat transfer to the food products being cooked. The oven can utilize steam and/or heated air to achieve varied cooking characteristics as desired and allows substantial versatility in the cooking process.
Abstract: An internal combustion engine and method of operation is disclosed as having a combustion chamber design which allows for staged combustion within the chambers. The internal combustion engine of the invention is designed as a split chamber, staged combustion engine which comprises a cylinder and having at least two regions formed therein. Within the cylinder is a piston slidably disposed therein to form a plurality of combustion chambers in association with the cylinder, and particularly at least one primary and secondary combustion chamber which are communicable with one another. Fuel delivery is accomplished by fuel injectors or the like associated with the primary combustion chamber, being operable to admit fuel into the primary combustion chamber at preselected intervals and in predetermined amounts. The fuel admitted in top the primary combustion chamber is ignited to begin initial combustion of the fuel as a first stage of combustion.
Abstract: New .alpha.-phenyl-glycidyl-ether polyolefin macromonomers and copolymer of these macromonomers and ring opening polymerizable monomers have been prepared. The new copolymers based on these macromonomers form a unique set of copolymers having graft type blocks of a hydrophobic polyolefin dangling from a back bone composed of a ring opening polymerizable monomer.
Abstract: A thermoregulator of a block cylinder used for an offset press which prevents the surface temperature of a block from rising, and at the same time allows it to maintain the said temperature at the most suitable point for printing.
Abstract: A new class of polyimides and copolyimides made from substituted benzidines and aromatic dianhydrides and other aromatic diamines. The polyimides obtained with said diamines are distinguished by excellent thermal, excellent solubility, excellent electrical properties such as very low dielectric constants, excellent clarity and mechanical properties making the polyimides ideally suited as coating materials for microelectronic apparatii, as membranes for selective molecular or gas separation, as fibers in molecular composites, as high tensile strength, high compression strength fibers, as film castable coatings, or as fabric components.
Abstract: A device for the insertion of filling wires into a wire jointed-band is described, being positioned in the conveying direction of a machine for the production of the wire jointed-band behind a feeding device for the plugging wires. By means of a guiding plate with channels and a roller the filling wires are inserted into the respective openings of the already completed wire jointed-band. The device according to the invention allows a sectional mechanical insertion of the filling wires into the actual wire jointed-band. The filling wires can be inserted simultaneously with the plugging wires, resulting in a substantially higher production speed.
Abstract: In-line fuse holders for two-bladed fuses are disclosed which can be fastened in series to an electrical wire by severing the wire in which the holder is to be incorporated, inserting the severed ends of the wire into the holder, and mechanically fastening the wire securely in the holder. Various embodiments are shown including holders in which the wires are connected with sliding guillotine blades, and those in which fastening is secured by crimping. Several of the embodiments include cover flaps which hold fuses inserted in the holders securely in place.
