Patent number: 4317495Abstract: In a weighing machine a flexure bar is attached as a cantilever to a beam. The force to be measured is applied to the cantilever end of the flexure bar by a weighing lever. In order to protect the flexure bar against overloading the beam is mounted to be pivotable and is held by a spring force acting counter to the direction of action of the force to be measured against a first fixed stop. The spring force is chosen such that said beam moves out of contact with the first stop when an overload is applied to the weighing lever. In addition, a second fixed stop is provided to restrict the pivotal movement of the weighing lever and thus prevent the transmission of further force into the flexure bar.Type: GrantFiled: September 2, 1980Date of Patent: March 2, 1982Assignee: Bizerba-Werke Wilhelm Kraut KGInventors: Ernst Kuhnle, Josef Schwarz

Patent number: 4315525Abstract: A single lever mixing valve adapted for proportioning hot and cold water and for controlling the volume of flow. A valve body has fluid passages which terminate in two spaced apart inlet ports and an outlet port to a valve seat. A generally spherical closure member is universally movable within the valve body so as to normally cover and seal the inlet ports in a closed position. Two recesses in the surface of the closure member are spaced apart by a divider portion and extend circumferentially relative to the inlet ports. Due to this configuration, the closure member can be moved to open mixing positions in which each recess completes a fluid passage between one of the inlet ports and the outlet port. The divider portion can be positioned to partially or fully close one inlet port while the other inlet port remains open.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 1980Date of Patent: February 16, 1982Assignee: Stephen A. Patent number: 4314629Abstract: An accumulating conveyor comprising a frame on which a plurality of horizontally spaced apart power rollers are positioned for propelling articles along the conveyor. Each power roller includes a tubular metal roller member terminating at opposite ends and having an axial passageway extending between and through its opposite ends. A motor driven drive shaft which is mounted on the frame extends through the roller member's passageway and supports a friction drive member formed of powdered metal and impregnated with a lubricant. The friction drive member is positioned in the passageway in frictional engagement with the roller member and rotates conjointly with the drive shaft. Rotation of the drive shaft is transmitted by the friction drive member to propel the articles along the conveyor. When the movement of the article is restrained, the friction drive member slips in the passageway relative to the roller member so that the roller member remains motionless.Type: GrantFiled: December 31, 1979Date of Patent: February 9, 1982Assignee: La Salle Machine Tool, Inc.Inventors: Frank R. Patent number: 4304510Abstract: A critical torque detector is disclosed made up of a rotating input member, an output member supporting a drill and connected in a "flexible driving connection" with the input rotating member, and means for detecting difference in rotational speed between the input and output members due to a greater torsional resistance encountered by the drill during its operation than the critical torque predetermined for a specific drill. The input and output members are drivingly connected, as by a coil spring, magnetic repelling forces and so on, so as to rotate conjointly whenever a torsional resistance or a torque encountered by a running drill is lower than the predetermined value, but they are not always rigidly connected. Upon occurrence of greater torque imposed on the drill, the output member will be permitted to delay in rotation as compared to the input member. Such difference in rotational speed can be taken out mechanically or electromagnetically as a signal to detect occurrence of the critical torque.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 1979Date of Patent: December 8, 1981Inventor: Kenji Machida

Patent number: 4301559Abstract: A sofa bed mechanism consisting of three sections, namely, a rear section, an intermediate section, and a front section, that are foldable between collapsed sofa positions in which the sections are in substantially horizontal vertically stacked positions and bed positions in which the sections extend in substantially horizontal alignment. A frame supports the sections, the frame being of minimum width by which is meant the frame is of a shallow dimension in a direction front to rear of the sofa. The sections are stacked on top of the frame in their sofa positions so that the frame and the sections present a compact substantially rectangular profile when viewed from the end of the frame, thereby allowing substantial flexibility in the design of the sofa in which the mechanism is mounted. The end sections are connected by hinge assemblies located entirely on the sides of the assemblies to avoid the necessity for any cross tubes that might interfere with sleeper comfort in the bed position of the mechanism.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 1980Date of Patent: November 24, 1981Inventor: J.
