Abstract: Backing boards are delivered one at a time from a supply hopper to a stack of printed paper sheets at the stacking station outfeed end of a printing press while the outfeed of the next succeeding printed sheet is delayed for a time sufficient to allow the backing board to be delivered onto the stack. In one embodiment, the delay is achieved by stopping delivery of a blank sheet to the printing station of the press. In another embodiment, the delay is achieved by extending an arm into the path of gravity fall of the printed paper sheet toward the stack. A plurality of groups of printed sheets, each provided with a backing board, thus may be assembled in the stack. If the stack is to be bonded together with adhesive at one edge, a cutting line is installed at each backing board to facilitate cutting the adhesive layer to form a plurality of pads. The board inserting apparatus is supported on a vertically adjustable housing to adapt it to various types and sizes of commercial printing presses.
Abstract: A sizing apparatus for produce or the like comprises a framework supporting a plurality of vertically spaced levels of sizer assemblies comprising a number of horizontally spaced apart, rotating screw conveyors each cooperating with an associated adjustable sizer blade arranged to provide an equally sized opening between each screw and associated sizer blade on a level whereby to permit produce having a diameter smaller than the opening to fall through to the next lower sizing level. Each successive lower sizing level has progressively smaller sized openings in order that only successively smaller diameter produce may pass through the sizer openings. The sizing apparatus utilizes a specially configured screw conveyor in which each thread between adjacent crests is semi-circular in profile in order to facilitate the separation of produce according to its smallest diameter.
Abstract: A cadence caller is formed of a U-shaped clip member arranged for releasable attachment to a conventional shoe, the clip member mounting on its upper wall surface a vertically extending, longitudinally elongated post which receives a pair of cymbals through a centrally located bore provided through each, the bore being of greater diameter than the diameter of the post so that the cymbals are permitted free sliding movement along the post. An enlarged end cap, greater in diameter than the bores through the cymbals, is provided on the terminal end of the post to retain the cymbals on the post as they move in response to the movement of the shoe during walking and jogging. The resulting sound of the cymbals contacting each other gives an audible indication of each step.
Abstract: A removable cover for my earlier patented magnetic cleaning devices, the cover comprising a plurality of hollow pockets interconnected at their rear, open ends by thin webs which permit longitudinal flexiblity. The interconnected pockets are configured and positioned to receive the projecting magnet pockets of a magnetic cleaning device attached to a vacuum cleaner or a sweeper in a snug, friction fit engagement, thereby securing the cover releasably onto the magnetic cleaning device. When the magnetic cleaning device passes over a floor surface and picks up magnetically attracted objects, the magnetic attraction holds the magnetically attracted objects firmly against the overlying cover.
Abstract: An appliance tilt stand for releasably supporting a washing machine or other appliance in a forwardly tilted, secure position during servicing, comprises a base configured to be disposed on a floor surface and slid underneath an appliance from the front of the appliance to a point determined by the abutment of a stop member mounted on the stand base with the inside lower front frame of the appliance. The base also mounts, a spaced distance rearwardly of the stop member, an elongated, telescoping pivotal support arm mounting a pad member arranged to engage and support the front wall of an appliance tilted forwardly thereagainst, the arm also mounting an appliance-engaging arm configured to engage the top frame of an appliance and positively and securely lock the appliance in tilted position on the stand. Rollers are preferably also included on the base of the stand to permit the appliance repair tilt stand to serve also as an appliance dolly during servicing.
Abstract: An artificially extended natural seafood bait is produced by dissolving gelatin or pectin or combinations thereof in water at a temperature elevated only sufficiently to liquify the material. Into this liquified material there is dispersed a quantity of natural fish or seafood ground to a particle size of not more than about 1/8 inch. Also contained within the liquified material is a mat of randomly crossed fibers of a fibrous material, preferably garnetted cotton. The foregoing fluid mass is allowed to cool to a temperature sufficient to solidify it, after which the solidified, fiber-reinforced artificially extended natural bait is cut to desired bait size pieces. In a preferred method of manufacture, a quantity of the ground fish or seafood is distributed over the surface of a container, a layer of the fibrous mat is placed over the ground material and a second quantity of the ground material is distributed over the fibrous mat.

Abstract: Food products, such as fish fillets, chicken fillets, and many others, are cut to predetermined portion sizes of equal weight and volume, or to predetermined profile shapes, by moving the food products on a conveyor, scanning them as they move through a shadow line with a camera capable of providing a programmed computer with dimensional data, and utilizing the computer to control the operation of a plurality of high pressure water jet cutters to cut the food products to reduced sizes as dictated by the computer program.
Abstract: An arrow shaft nock end cleaning apparatus includes a body member having a socket in one end arranged to receive the tapered nock end portion of an arrow having its nock removed. A plurality of knurled cleaning pins are disposed circumferentially around the socket and are each arranged to present a working surface disposed angularly relative to the socket axis to closely match the external configuration of a tapered nock end portion of an arrow shaft to be cleaned. An end cap having an arrow shaft-guiding opening is arranged on the open end of the body, the cap opening disposed in alignment with the socket so as to guide an arrow shaft longitudinally thereinto.
Abstract: A reciprocating slat type conveyor comprises a framework mounting a bed of longitudinally extending, laterally spaced apart first and second groups of alternating slats arranged for longitudinal sliding movement on the plane of the bed. Interposed between adjacent reciprocating slats is a fixed slat mounted immovably to the framework, each fixed slat having an upper material supporting surface that is narrower than the upper material supporting surface of each first and second reciprocative slat.
Abstract: A pipe vibration reducer is provided by one or more resilient cantilever bar members each secured at its inner end to a clamp assembly mounted on a pipe and extending laterally from a vertical plane through the pipe. The outer end of the cantilever bar member mounts a pipe vibration dynamic mass. In one embodiment each of a pair of cantilever bar members mounts a dynamic mass of the same of different weight. In another embodiment a single dynamic mass extends between and is secured to a pair of cantilever bar members. In still another embodiment a pair of cantilever bar members is secured to a clamp assembly for pivotal adjustment to various positions laterally of a vertical plane through a pipe to which the clamp assembly is mounted.
Abstract: A convertible walking/riding power driven golf cart includes three detachable units; namely, a drive unit having a frame supported on wheels connected to a battery operated motor; a steering and golf bag support unit connected detachably to the drive unit and having releasable golf bag connectors and a handle bar mounting a speed control and a brake control; and a riding unit having a wheel-supported platform connected detachably to the drive unit for adjustment between an operative position extending horizontally rearward from the drive unit for supporting a person on the platform for riding, and a storage position disposed vertically closely adjacent the drive unit to allow a person to walk behind the drive unit while grasping the handle bar. The three units are quickly and easily detached from each other for storage and transport in the trunk of an automobile.
Abstract: The archery bowsight of this invention includes windage and elevation carriages which are adjustable by rack and gear connections, and also includes a bubble level the axis of which is adjustable relative to said carriages to position it perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of an arrow supported on the arrow rest of the archery bow.
Abstract: A pair of spaced, resiliently tired wheels are mounted on a base for axial rotation in a common plane, the spacing between the wheels being less than the diameter of a ball to be thrown and the rotational speed of each wheel being adjustable independently of the other. The base is supported on a universal mounting ball by means of a socket located on the base at the center of gravity of the assembly of base and components supported thereon. The universal mounting ball is supported at the upper end of an angularly bent support arm, whereby to afford angular adjustment of the rotational plane of the wheels infinitely in all directions about the common pivot of the mounting ball, between horizontal and vertical positions. Electrical controls are provided for controlling the speed of rotation of the coacting wheels.

Abstract: A loudspeaker enclosure is configured in trapezoidal shape, with one angular end wall supporting an electromagnetic or electrostatic loudspeaker of the type having both front and back acoustic waves, with the front of the loudspeaker registering with a front wave opening in the angular end wall and the back of the loudspeaker communicating through a transmission line cavity with an acoustic port in the opposite angular end wall. Said opposite angular end wall supports a tweeter spanning said acoustical port. The port is dimensioned larger than the tweeter to provide a port opening having a cross sectional area of about 0.5 to about 2.0 times the operative area of the loudspeaker, and the centerlines of propagation of sound waves from the front waves of the loudspeaker and port form an included angle of about 90.degree.. A mounting base is configured to support the enclosure removably at the port end with the parallel sides extending vertically.
Abstract: A labor support apparatus comprises an essentially U-shaped crossbar assembly mounted on a base member which is arranged to support the intermediate portion of the assembly above a floor or above the surface of a delivery bed. The cross bar assembly is configured to extend upwardly relative to the floor or bed surface, and includes a cushioning pad arranged to comfortably support a person in various positions during childbirth for the purpose of facilitating the birthing process.
Abstract: A container is formed of a pair of paperboard tubes opened at both ends and one telescoped within the other. A bottom inner closure cap closes the open bottom end of the inner tube and has a plurality of peripheral flaps inserted between the inner and outer tubes. One of the flaps is hinged to a tab portion of the inner closure cap which extends partially into the inner cap and terminates at its inner end in a transverse score line to allow the tab to be hinged outward of the cap for inserting a flexible plastic liner into the inner tube. A fitment on the liner is extended outward through, aligned openings in the flap and inner and outer tubes. An outer bottom cap covers the inner bottom cap and the fitment extends outwardly through an opening in its peripheral wall. With the assembly supported on a pallet, liquid is filled into the liner from its open top, the liner then is closed within the inner tube and a top outer cap is fitted over the top end of the outer tube.
