  • Patent number: 8353025
Abstract: Techniques for virtual private network (VPN) access are provided. A dynamic determination, in response to privileges, is made as to whether a principal and a device of a principal are to receive a thin client virtual private network (VPN) installation for a thin client VPN session between the principal and a remote site or whether a clientless VPN session is appropriate. Dynamic switching between the clientless VPN session and thin client VPN session is permissible when the principal supplies the appropriate credentials for such a switch.

  • Patent number: 8351386
Abstract: A base station apparatus includes a correction unit for correcting a CQI reported from a user apparatus and a scheduler for scheduling based on the corrected CQI. The correction unit uses a correction table to correct the CQI such that if the reported CQI is poor, the CQI is slightly reduced, and otherwise, the CQI is significantly reduced. One method of generating the correction table includes deriving a first SINR in consideration of the number of interference users less than (n?1) and a second SINR in consideration of the number of interference users equal to (n?1) to explore a distribution of the second SINR to the first SINR. In this method, correspondence between the first SINR and the second SINR is determined based on the distribution to generate the correction table.

  • Patent number: 8352925
Abstract: A mechanism is disclosed for enabling a set of code intended to be executed on a first platform (intended platform) to be executed on another platform (target platform). In one implementation, this mechanism takes a significantly different approach than that taken by current techniques. Rather than duplicating, augmenting, or changing a platform to accommodate the set of code, this mechanism alters the set of code to accommodate the platform. By altering the set of code, the mechanism causes the set of code to compensate for the difference(s) between the intended platform and the target platform. By compensating for the difference(s) in the two platforms, the set of code, when executed on the target platform, is able to produce the same result or results as it would have produced had it been executed on the intended platform. Thus, the set of code is able to execute properly on the target platform.

  • Patent number: 8347338
Abstract: This application describes a method of referencing content in an application. The method comprises, for a content element, creating a reference to the content element and associating that reference with the content element. This enables the content element (for example, text or images) to be dissociated from other features related to content; for example, its presentation on the screen. In this way, control over presentation may be achieved separately from control of the content itself. In an example, a Content Provider provides referenced content to an Operator. A Program Provider sends referenced scenarios to the Operator. The Operator resolves the reference and sends data for broadcast by the Broadcaster.

  • Patent number: 8345967
Abstract: A method and apparatus for processing an image to create a grayscale image are provided. The method includes converting, in a color image consisting of a plurality of pixels, a pixel value of each pixel in a RGB color space into a pixel value in a new color space through color space conversion, extracting color information using the pixel value in the new color space, calculating a luminance change amount of each pixel using the extracted color information, calculating a luminance value for the grayscale image by combining an original luminance value of each pixel and the luminance change amount, and creating the grayscale image according to the calculated luminance value. In converting color image into grayscale image and representing the grayscale image, the luminance change amount is set according to a property of each color perceived by humans and added to original luminance value, thereby explicitly discriminating among objects.
