  • Patent number: 3942583
Abstract: Hollow "lost plastic" patterns for metal casting molds are built up from plastic plate or sheet material bonded to internal supporting framing; the elements being formed of substantially ashless plastic solid or foam rod sheets or laminates easily sculptured or bent to desired shape when heated to provide even large and complex hollow patterns with a comparatively small expenditure of pattern material and labor.

  • Patent number: 3941152
Abstract: A handle-carrying operating plug serving also a valve body-closing bonnet function, having a threaded internal engagement with the body, has a sliding relatively rotatable lost motion connection with an internal valving stem carrying a valving member, whereby the valving member, displaced to open position by plug-rotation in one direction, is permitted to advance in the body from an open position to a closed position under water flow or static pressure or/and spring bias, as the plug moves out upon rotation in the other direction for valve closing, and with a permitted further plug member rotation after valve closing, a drainage passage through the plug opens by relative axial motion of plug and stem; and by further rotation the plug is withdrawable for cleaning of a filter on the outlet side of the valving region in the body, the filter being plug-supported, spring biased to follow the plug to the body mouth, or merely body supported; ensuring a shut off condition when the valve body is opened for cleaning o

  • Patent number: 3941606
Abstract: Metal carboxylate-glycol or carboxylate-glycol ether compositions, useful as siccatives in paint and like coating drier compositions, as internal combustion engine fuel--and other fuel--additives, and as stabilizers for polyvinyl chloride type plastics, and soluble in linseed oil and in aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbon solvents, are prepared in liquid form by heating a mixture of (a) an appropriate metal powder or compound such as an oxide, hydroxide, acetate, or carbonate, (b) a branched chain aliphatic or a non-aromatic cyclic carboxylic acid, even an acid as low as a five carbon acid, or a mixture of such acids, and (c) a polyol or an alkoxy alkanol, e.g., a glycol or glycol ether; and, after filtration of the reaction mix, distilling off any volatile reaction by-product and also excess glycol or glycol ether. Higher than the usual equivalents of metal may be reacted for each equivalent of acid used. Certain of the products have remarkably low viscosity without special dilution.

  • Patent number: 3938554
Abstract: A device providing gas-powered logic responsive to a sensor such as a gas discharging type level probe and actuating valving controlling flow of liquid to be dispensed; and adapted to valving either for a volatile, especially cryogenic liquid utilizing the liquid's vapor pressure from a free gas space in a storage vessel top region as a power source both for control function and for the liquid transfer through a valve to a receiver, or with use of a separate gas supply for powering the probe, logic and amplifier, valving which applies liquid transferring pressure to a free gas space of a source vessel or vents the same for liquid transfer cut off, for volatile or non-volatile liquid.

  • Patent number: 3932070
Abstract: In an electric motor fan unit, a motor section frame enclosing a motor ventilating fan moving air through an internal motor cooling air path includes an end bracket with an enlarged rim for mounting fan shell and interior partition structures defining a fan section housing with a chamber for a working air centrifugal impeller mounted on the motor shaft outboard of the end bracket and drawing a working air stream into a housing axial inlet for discharge at the housing circumference, and with an inner chamber for a slinger disk on the shaft to afford bearing protection from working air borne moisture, contaminants, and high temperature and humidity, by simple, low cost, durable structure.
