  • Patent number: 8013048
Abstract: The present invention discloses a polymeric polyamine which can be produced by polymerizing polyoxyalkylene-amine and a linker. The linker can be anhydride, carboxylic acid, epoxy, isocyanate or poly(styrene-co-maleic anhydride) copolymers (SMA). The present invention also discloses a method for stabilizing the Ag nanoparticles with polymeric polyamine. The polymeric polyamine serving as a stabilizer or dispersant is mixed with a water solution of silver salt and then a reducer is provided to reduce the silver ions and form an organic or a water solution of Ag nanoparticles. Water or solvent of this solution can be further removed through a heating, freezing or decompression process, and thus solid content of the solution can be increased. The concentrated solution also can be diluted to obtain a stable dispersion without aggregation.

  • Patent number: 8006257
Abstract: An optical disc includes a round opening at the center of the optical disc, an annular recording section configured to record information, an annular supporting section between the round opening and the annular recording section and configured to support the optical disc, and a spoiler provided on a non-read/write side of the annular recording section and configured to disturb the flow field inside the optical disc drive when the optical disc is rotating, the spoiler having a centerline average roughness between 2 ?m and 10 ?m, a thickness between 0.02 mm and 0.05 mm, an area occupying at least 5% of the non-read/write side. The flow field so disturbed changes from a laminar state to a turbulent state and thus the read/write characteristics of the disc is improved due to lower air resistance experienced by the rotating disc.

  • Patent number: 8001449
Abstract: A decoding method is presented for error-correcting codes based on the syndrome decoding scheme, which means the set of all syndromes is one-to-one corresponding to the set of all correctable error patterns. The improvement in the high-speed error-correcting capability is achieved by searching a syndrome-error table, which is built upon the mathematical basis: there is a one-to-one correspondence between the set of all syndromes and the set of all correctable error patterns. Two embodiments of the present invention are described. The first embodiment uses a full syndrome-error table, whereas the second uses a partial syndrome-error table. The method includes the following steps: calculating a syndrome corresponding to the received bit string; determining whether the syndrome is a zero bit string; when the syndrome is not a zero bit string, determining an error pattern from the syndrome-error table; and correcting the corrupted codeword using the error pattern.
