Abstract: The invention relates to an infinitely variable transmission comprising a support body, peripheral gears mounted on the support body or on elements that are coupled thereto such that the rotating shafts thereof are oriented parallel to each other. The distances between the rotational shafts of the peripheral gears can be adjusted to always be located on the outer surface of an (imaginary) cylinder; at least one row of elements which surround the peripheral gears and with which at least one of the peripheral gears engages; a rotational body, preferably coaxial to the axis of rotation of the (imaginary) cylinder, whose rotary movement is coupled to the rotary movement of the peripheral gears. The rotational coupling between the peripheral gears and the (central) rotational body is effected by means of one or more differentials, so that an asynchronous rotation of the peripheral gears is possible.

Abstract: A diaphragm chuck assembly having clamping jaws disposed in a chuck body and in driven connection with a diaphragm deformable by an axially adjustable actuator, the clamping jaws having contact pieces, in which counterweights are disposed in recesses of the chuck body and the clamping jaws are clamped against the diaphragm by means of quick-clamping devices engaging in the contact pieces, the contact pieces being arranged in the diaphragm and in the counterweights with radial play. The clamping jaws are supported against a first surface extending axially in parallel to the chuck body in the clamping position and against a second reference surface extending at right angles to the first reference surface and into the diaphragm. The clamping jaws can be changed in a short time and the clamping jaws can be replaced without having to be reground.

Abstract: This invention provides a prosthetic acetabular component that comprises two constructs, one being a metal base construct that engages the bone and the other being a polyethylene bearing construct that attaches to the metal base construct and articulates with a femoral stem prosthetic component. The metal base construct is composed of two different metals, one of which engages the bone surface and the other of which engages the polyethylene bearing construct. Each of these metals is selected so that its characteristics are well suited to its particular function. The first metal is selected so as to provide a superior bone-engaging face, while the second metal is selected so as to provide a superior polyethylene-engaging face. By combining the different material characteristics of two different metals in the metal bone construct, it is possible to simultaneously form a superior bone-engaging face and a superior polyethylene-engaging face.

Abstract: A graft ligament anchor includes a tubular body having a bore therethrough and proximal and distal ends. A flange is attached to the tubular body at the proximal end thereof and extends radially outwardly beyond the tubular body. A deformable wall is disposed in the tubular body bore and defines, at least in part, a chamber for retaining the graft ligament therein. An expansion device is configured for insertion into the tubular body axially of the tubular body, and for impinging upon the deformable wall to press the deformable wall, and hence the graft ligament received in the chamber, toward a wall of the bore, whereby to fix the graft ligament in the tubular body.

Abstract: An electrical switch device including a housing having an actuator cap movably mounted thereon and a plurality of contact switches disposed therein. The cap is operable to engage the contact switches within the housing to activate the switches in a selected sequence.
Abstract: Medical apparatus for detecting the presence of artifact signals generated in the electrocardiogram of a patient by CPR and/or other patient motion. The presence of artifact signals is determined by analyzing variations in a measured electrical signal that represents the patient's transthoracic impedance. Such detection is important because the presence of CPR and/or motion artifacts can disrupt a patient's electrocardiogram (ECG) signal. The patient's impedance signal data is stored in the apparatus and analyzed to determine if the characteristics are indicative of the presence of CPR and/or motion artifacts. This analysis is performed independently of ECG data and may be used as an indicator of the underlying ECG rhythm classification. In essence, if the impedance exceeds some threshold amount, so as to indicate the presence of CPR or patient motion which can render the ECG data unreliable, the normal interpretation of the ECG data is interrupted.
