  • Patent number: 5853808
Abstract: Silsesquioxane polymers that are useful for preparing SiO.sub.2 -rich ceramic coatings are obtained as the polymeric reaction products from the hydrolysis and condensation of organosilanes having a .beta.-substituted alkyl group. A preferred silsesquioxane polymer is the polymeric reaction product obtained from .beta.-chloroethyltrichlorosilane. Coating compositions containing such silsesquioxane polymers dissolved in organic solvent may be applied to a substrate and converted to SiO.sub.2 -rich ceramic thin layers by evaporating the solvent and heating the coated substrate at moderate temperatures.

Abstract: A locking mechanism of the present invention is for locking a cover to a body of an apparatus when the cover closes the body. The locking mechanism includes a strip-shaped portion having a free end portion and an engagement hole into which the free end portion projects when the cover is closed. The strip-shaped portion is formed on the cover and engages the body to resiliently deform when the cover is moved in a closing direction in which the cover closes the body. The strip-shaped portion engages the body to resiliently deform when the cover is moved in an opening direction in which the cover opens the body. The opening direction is opposite to the closing direction. The body has a portion defining an engagement hole into which the free end portion projects to engage the wall of the engagement hole when the cover closes the body, and from which the free end portion projects out of the engagement with the wall when the cover is moved in the opening direction.

  • Patent number: 5853915
Abstract: Battery pack for use in various electronic products are pivotably connected together by two parallel link assemblies which permit the two portions of the battery pack to be folded with respect to one another into various configurations. Each link assembly includes a rotary electrical connection, one link providing a supply path and the other link supplying a return path to the batteries in both casings. Wiper type contacts are supplied in each link. External contacts may be located in one of the two casings or one contact may be located on each of the two casings. In one embodiment a flexible printed circuit board wire trace is used to provide an electrical connection between opposing poles of cells in the two casings to eliminate the rotary electrical connection and potential for failure across such connection while still providing multiple configuration adjustability.
