Abstract: In a method of printing on individual self-supporting articles, for example CDs, telephone cards or the like, using multi-color printing, the relative positions of the individual print images which make up a total print image on the article are set by a procedure whereby, after at least one individual print image has been printed on the article, the print image is detected by a camera system. The representation of the actual position of the individual print image relative to the article bearing it is compared in a computer to a representation of the reference position stored therein. In dependence on the result of the comparison, if the actual position deviates from the reference position, the position of the printing mechanism and/or the position of a following article is altered for the printing operation in accordance with the result of the comparison.
Abstract: An automatic safety helmet and cover protection can be worn on the back, mainly of people who play sport. The protection device is stored in a rucksack casing (3) and is attached to back straps (4-6). The casing accommodates essentially a guard (11-19), a drive member and a control mechanism. There is storage space in the center for various implements. By triggering a spring accumulator (40.1, 40.2), the protection device is rotated, in the event of a threatening fall, into an erect protective position in fractions of a second by way of a trigger cord or by automatic actuation due to a sensor (23). The protective position is held at the top by a toothed catch member (7.1, 7.2). Mating toothing on the catch member maintains the protective position even in the event of a change in direction.
Abstract: In an internal combustion engine, a catalyst monitor includes a resistive type oxygen sensor positioned between the engine and the catalyst and a temperature sensor positioned proximate to the catalyst. The oxygen sensor measures an oxygen concentration of the engine emissions and the temperature sensor monitors a temperature of the catalyst and detects a light off time of the catalyst. The magnitude of resistance of the oxygen sensor is measured and compared to a predetermined threshold level. The catalyst light off time is compared to a predetermined time value. In addition, a lifetime temperature profile of the catalyst is generated and compared to a predetermined threshold temperature level. The results of the comparisons are used to establish whether the catalyst is operating efficiently.

In this way, the clearance compensation element (1) is retained secure against rotation in the reception bore (4).
Abstract: A reciprocating piston machine (1) has an inlet valve (9) on the suction side and an outlet valve (10) on the delivery side, which valves exhibit a valve body having a valve disc (11, 12) comprising of an elastomer, whereby the compression chamber (6) sealed off by the reciprocating piston or similar displacer (2) and by the valves (9, 10) has a pressure relief connection between compression chamber and atmosphere. To be able to bring the compression chamber (6) quickly to atmospheric pressure after the reciprocating piston machine (1) has been put out of operation and to be able to bring about the restart of the reciprocating piston machine (1) so as to be load-free in this respect, the valve disc (11,12) of the valve (9, 10) on the delivery side and/or on the suction side has at least one capillary passage (18, 19) as pressure relief connection.
Abstract: A method of joining a plurality of coils of strip material into a continuous strip and stacking the coils in a multi-coil arrangement is provided. A first coil is conveyed from a carry-in table by a transfer means to an exit side turn table and is designated as a forward coil. A first strip of material is pulled from the forward coil and supplied to a welding machine through an auxiliary guide roll and an exit side guide roll. A second coil is conveyed to an entry side turn table by the transfer means and designated as the rear coil. A second strip of material is pulled from the rear coil and supplied to the welding machine through an entry side guide roll. The first and second strips of material are welded together into a continuous strip of material. The rear coil is then moved to a stand-by position and sag is removed from the continuous strip of material by synchronously rotating the entry side guide roll, the exit side guide roll, the auxiliary guide roll and the exit side turn table.

At least one pin jet nozzle is included in the enclosure to provide a fog, with the nozzle placed so that fluid discharged from the nozzle will enter the flow path.
Abstract: The inventive packaging item is e.g. a tray for packing fresh meat. It has at least on its bottom part (10) grooves (11) which open towards the inside of the packaging item. The openings of these grooves are narrower than the inside part of the grooves. If the groove opening is sufficiently narrow e.g 1mm or less, unwanted liquid oozing out of the packed meat is trapped in these grooves (11) and such separated from the meat and kept out of sight of a potential buyer.
Abstract: A transaction system having a first transportable integrated circuit (IC) device, a terminal, and a security device is disclosed. The first IC device includes a processor, memory, data stored in the memory, and an operating program stored in the memory. The terminal includes a reader/writer device, a processor, memory, and an operating program stored in the memory. The reader/writer device establishes communication with the first IC device whereby the processor of the first IC device is in communication with the terminal processor. The security device includes a processor, memory, data stored in the memory and an operating program stored in the memory. The security device communicates with the terminal so that the processor of the security device communicates with the terminal processor.

Abstract: A print head for non-impact printer is, for example, an LED head which comprises a plurality of light-emitting elements, LED drivers for selectively causing a drive current to flow into the light-emitting elements on the basis of the print data, a non-volatile memory for storing the modification data related to the value of the drive current. The modification data are determined in advance at the manufacturing process on the basis of the measured result when the light-emitting elements were driven by the LED driver so that all the light-emitting elements emit substantially same amount of light at the printing operation.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for automatically transferring a predetermined quantity of a sterile liquid to a vial containing a dry medicament for hydrating the medicament and then transferring the hydrated medicament to a container. To hydrate the medicament, a needle is positioned through a vial septum of the vial and an artificial sensor senses when the needle has been positioned through the vial septum and actuates a pump to transfer a predetermined quantity of sterile liquid into the vial. The needle is then removed from the vial septum and the vial is shaken to mix the liquid and medicament. To transfer the hydrated medicament to a container, another needle is positioned through the vial septum. An artificial sensor senses when the needle has been positioned through the vial septum and actuates the pump to transfer the hydrated medicament to the container.
Abstract: A method of automatically producing a plurality of prefilled, sterile delivery devices with a desired quantity of fluid. The sterile delivery devices each include a hollow barrel with a dispensing nozzle at one end and an open opposite end. A piston plunger is positioned within the open end and is slidable in sealing engagement with the barrel to retain a fluid therein. A tip is secured to the dispensing nozzle. A plurality of the sterile delivery devices are automatically fed along a predetermined path. Tips are then removed from the dispensing nozzles of the sterile delivery devices. The hollow barrels of the sterile delivery devices are then filled through the dispensing nozzles with a desired is quantity of fluid. The dispensing nozzles of the sterile delivery devices are then closed and sealed after the filling step to provide sealed sterile delivery devices with sterile fluid contents.
