  • Patent number: 7586177
Abstract: A method of fabricating a semiconductor-on-insulator semiconductor wafer is described that includes providing first and second semiconductor substrates. A first insulating layer is formed on the first substrate with a first predetermined stress and a second insulating layer is formed on the second substrate with a second predetermined stress different than the first predetermined stress. The first insulating layer is bonded to the second insulating layer to form a composite insulating layer bonding the first substrate to the second substrate and a portion of the one substrate is removed to form a thin crystalline active layer on the composite insulating layer. The first and second insulating layers are formed with different stresses to provide a desired composite stress, which can be any stress from compressive to unstressed to tensile, depending upon the desired application.

  • Patent number: 7549364
Abstract: Bullet feeder apparatus includes a fixture bounding a bullet-conducting passage therethrough, and a gate mounted to the fixture for movement between a closed position closing the bullet-conducting passage preventing a bullet from passing therethrough, and an open position opening the bullet-conducting passage allowing the bullet to pass therethrough into an open end of a shell. A bias applied to the gate biases the gate into the closed position. A deflector is mounted proximate the fixture for movement between a first position whereby the deflector is disposed away from the gate and the bias applied to the gate biases the gate in the closed position thereof closing the bullet-conducting passage, and a second position whereby the deflector is disposed toward and against the gate overcoming the bias applied thereto deflecting the gate from the closed position thereof to the open position thereof opening the bullet-conducting passage.

  • Patent number: 7543458
Abstract: A portable vapor cycle air conditioning unit for small aircraft includes a single portable module housing an evaporator, a condenser and cooling coils operably connected together. The module is designed to be positioned within a cabin of the small aircraft so that cabin air is drawn into a cabin air inlet in the module, passes over the cooling coils, and is expelled through a cabin air outlet. Air ducts are coupled to the module for conveying fresh air from a window of the small aircraft and waist heat air to a window of the small aircraft. A blower in the module is coupled to direct the fresh air over the condenser and direct the waist heat out through the window. A venturi system in the module is positioned to draw condensate from the evaporator and expel the condensate with the waist heat air.

  • Patent number: 7538016
Abstract: The present invention describes a method including the steps of providing a single crystal semiconductor substrate, forming a layer of rare earth silicide on a surface of the semiconductor substrate, forming a first layer of insulating material on the layer of rare earth silicide, forming a layer of electrically conductive material on the first layer of insulating material, and forming a second layer of insulating material on the layer of electrically conductive material. In one embodiment the step of forming the layer of rare earth silicide includes depositing a layer of rare earth metal on a surface of the semiconductor substrate depositing a layer of insulating material on the layer of rare earth metal, and annealing the structure to form a layer of rare earth silicide in conjunction with the surface of the semiconductor substrate and a rare earth doped insulating layer in conjunction with the layer of insulating material.
