Patent number: 4597757Abstract: The applicator comprises a portable hand-held blower including a fan, a motor and heating wires to provide a stream of heated air out of an exhaust opening. A porous support element may cover the exhaust opening. A fabric material can be arranged to be draped about the motor housing in hooded fashion. Another fabric is arranged about the porous support element to provide a cushioned surface for engaging a body portion. This latter fabric material is impregnated with a medicant so that the heated air from the blower opens up the pores of the skin of a portion of the human body engaged by the fabric. The medicant is then easily absorbed thereby bringing relief to victims of arthritis and other aches and pains. The hood keeps the hot air generated by the blower in proximity to the body portion.Type: GrantFiled: July 22, 1985Date of Patent: July 1, 1986Inventor: Max J. Ruderian

Patent number: 4596332Abstract: A transfer system is utilized for automatically transporting a master microfiche from a computer output microfiche unit to a duplicator unit, thereby avoiding the physical handling of the microfiche by operating personnel. In addition to effecting the transfer of the microfiche, the transfer system further diverts those microfiche with errors in their bar code instructions to an error hopper so that optimum use of the duplicator time in making copies is assured. Appropriate switches are provided for diverting all microfiche to the error hopper when the duplicator is being serviced. Also, switches are provided for bypassing the bar code reader so that all microfiche will go to the feed hopper for the duplicator regardless of whether or not an error in the bar code exists.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 1984Date of Patent: June 24, 1986Assignee: Photomatrix CorporationInventors: Karl H. Patent number: 4592632Abstract: For a given shutter size, the effective illumination or light transmission period is increased by one half that of the angles subtended by the aperture. This increase is accomplished by providing, in addition to a first shutter having an opaque section in the case of a camera of at least 180.degree., a second shutter having an opaque section of an angle equal to that subtended by the aperture. The second shutter is coaxially mounted with the first shutter and caused to rotate at twice the speed of the first shutter. By initially aligning the leading edges of the shutters with the start of the aperture, the aperture is effectively covered and uncovered in half the time which would normally be required by using a single shutter providing the same film transport period alone. As a consequence, the period of illumination is increased by the referred to one-half of the angle subtended by the aperture.Type: GrantFiled: December 28, 1984Date of Patent: June 3, 1986Inventor: Walter Renold

Patent number: 4591960Abstract: An optical system useful in lighting fixtures for uniformly illuminating large areas, includes a plurality of reflectors situated about a light source to cause light emitted by the light source to be concentrated in a first directional range measured from downward vertical, and to provide decreasing intensity of projected light with changes in the angle of projection from the first directional range to downward vertical. In one preferred form, four reflectors, each being a surface of revolution and spaced from the others to preclude any horizontal overlap, are utilized to concentrate the light emitted into a first directional range of about 65 degrees to 75 degrees. All of the light directed into this first directional range is either singly or doubly reflected. Unreflected light passes between a lower reflector and a central reflector to illuminate a middle directional range, and singly reflected light, which is redirected by a portion of an upper reflector, fills a lower directional range.Type: GrantFiled: October 2, 1984Date of Patent: May 27, 1986Assignee: MWC LightingInventor: Bill F. Patent number: 4578709Abstract: A flat TV screen is provided by overlapping rows and columns of fiber optics. Each cross-over point will emit more light than radiates from the side of a single optical fiber when both of the crossing fibers are energized. Therefore, a dot matrix can be generated by controlling the entrance of light into the ends of the optical fibers in the rows and columns. The rows of optical fibers are sequentially energized by a light signal of constant brightness. The columns in turn are successively energized during the time period that each row is energized with signals derived from a TV video signal to thereby provide an optical reproduction of the TV signal from the dot matrix of light defined at the cross over points of the rows and columns.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 1984Date of Patent: March 25, 1986Assignees: Allen Jensen, GoldstakeInventors: Paul W. Patent number: 4577113Abstract: The system effects positioning of an art work at precise given X and Y rectangular coordinate points. This art work may correspond to drill hole positions in a printed circuit board. By recording in memory the exact rectangular coordinate points on the art work and the necessary servo signals to effect exact centering at the coordinate points, accurate circuit board drilling can be carried out. A circular hole is provided in the art work and an image of this hole projected to a screen having horizontal and vertical cross hairs defining X and Y axes respectively. The art work is precisely positioned at a given pair of rectangular coordinates when the intersection of the cross hairs corresponds exactly with the exact center of the image of the circular hole. Exact centering is achieved by causing first and second light responsive photo cells to oscillate along the X and Y axes directions respectively, the centers of oscillation of the cells corresponding to the intersection point of the cross hairs.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 1984Date of Patent: March 18, 1986Inventors: William F.
