  • Patent number: 8300382
Abstract: A portable apparatus for voltage transformation is capable of temporarily augmenting a power transformer. A transformer with a first medium voltage primary winding, a second medium voltage primary winding and a low voltage secondary winding is selectably coupled to a plurality of medium voltage electrical power input couplings capable of temporarily coupling with medium voltage power on a plant. An interlocked switch selectably couples the medium voltage electrical power input couplings to the medium voltage primary windings of the transformer such that only one medium voltage primary winding of the transformer is coupled at a time to the medium voltage electrical power input couplings. The interlocked switch can use a captive key system to prevent more than one secondary winding from being simultaneously connected. Medium voltage circuit protection devices such as fuses are included.

  • Patent number: 8228117
Abstract: A switching audio amplifier circuit drives a switching audio amplifier stage using a digital PWM signal from an audio source. A PWM duty ratio modifier modifies an edge timing of the digital PWM signal to produce a modified digital PWM signal. A mode switch switches between the digital PWM signal and the modified digital PWM signal in a way that masks audible noise such as clicks and pops at power-up and power-down of the switching audio amplifier. An integrating error amplifier compares a difference between the digital PWM signal and an amplified PWM signal and integrates the difference to control the edge timing modified by the PWM duty ratio modifier. A mode controller can apply an offset signal to the integrating error amplifier and can control the switching of the mode switch.

  • Patent number: 8105273
Abstract: This single unit, known as a self flushing duel compartment container, can be used with or without an electrical feeding pump. It will perform a dual, fluid composition administration process, which would usually require two separate units to perform. Thus eliminating the need for the use of a secondary unit needed to follow the administrations seen in the existing products used primary/secondary fluid delivery technique. Two separate compartments are capable of retaining their own fluid composition within the boundary of it's own separate compartment separated by an air tight, sealed section of the single unit that divides this single unit into two separate compartments. Each compartment leads into a section of thermoplastic tubing, which eventually forms a pre-attached junction tubing similar to the “Y”, shaped tubing that becomes a single much longer section of thermoplastic tubing.

  • Patent number: 7825726
Abstract: A switching amplifier drives a load or audio transducer. A digital integral noise shaping circuit converts a digital input such as audio content to an output digital pulse width modulated signal using an integrator. The integrator integrates the digital input, a variable frequency reference pulse width modulated signal and an inverse of the output digital pulse width modulated signal. A half bridge amplifier receives the output digital pulse width modulated signal and drives the load or audio transducer. A variable frequency generator generates the variable frequency reference pulse width modulated signal with an approximately equal duty ratio or alternatively varies the variable frequency pulse width modulated signal above and below about a fifty percent duty ratio.

  • Patent number: 7769703
Abstract: A system in accordance with the invention uses an adaptive element to augment a filter for tracking an observed system. The adaptive element only requires a single neural network and does not require an error observer. The adaptive element provides robustness to parameter uncertainty and unmodeled dynamics present in the observed system for improved tracking performance over the filter alone. The adaptive element can be implemented with a linearly parameterized neural network, whose weights are adapted online using error residuals generated from the Filter. Boundedness of the signals generated by the system can be proven using Lyapunov's direct method and a backstepping argument. A related apparatus and method are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7478545
Abstract: A spherical crocheted object includes a portion that contains high quality embroidery and is made beginning with a fabric piece called an initial disc. By initially knitting the spherical crocheted object into a flat, round disc of specific and limited dimensions, this initial disc is created for the introduction of an external embroidery process. The crocheted initial disc is tied off to maintain durability during the embroidery step, which is usually performed on specialized embroidery equipment. Thereafter, by vigilantly following specific construction techniques, a ball will be produced that retains its spherical shape resulting in an end product with characteristics similar to that of a spherical crocheted object that does not contain embroidery.

  • Patent number: 7418432
Abstract: An adaptive control system (ACS) uses direct output feedback to control a plant. The ACS uses direct adaptive output feedback control developed for highly uncertain nonlinear systems, that does not rely on state estimation. The approach is also applicable to systems of unknown, but bounded dimension, whose output has known, but otherwise arbitrary relative degree. This includes systems with both parameter uncertainty and unmodeled dynamics. The result is achieved by extending the universal function approximation property of linearly parameterized neural networks to model unknown system dynamics from input/output data. The network weight adaptation rule is derived from Lyapunov stability analysis, and guarantees that the adapted weight errors and the tracking error are bounded.

  • Patent number: 7415311
Abstract: A computer system for controlling a nonlinear physical process. The computer system comprises a linear controller and a neural network. The linear controller receives a command signal for control of the nonlinear physical process and a measured output signal from the output of the nonlinear physical process. The linear controller generates a control signal based on the command signal, a measured output signal, and a fixed linear model for the process. The neural network receives the control signal from the linear controller and the measured output signal from the output of the nonlinear physical process. The neural network uses the measured output signal to modify the connection weights of the neural network. The neural network also generates a modified control signal supplied to the linear controller to iterate a fixed point solution for the modified control signal used to control the nonlinear physical process.

  • Patent number: 7031275
Abstract: A home agent assigns disjoint ranges of port numbers to mobile nodes that share a global IP address. In response to a registration request message from a mobile node, the home agent transmits to the mobile node its assigned range of port numbers, as an extension to a registration reply message. The home agent maintains data records for the mobile nodes that have registered with it, wherein a data record for a mobile node includes its global IP address, its assigned range of port numbers, and its current address. When the home agent receives data packets destined for one of these registered mobile nodes, as determined from the destination address and destination port number specified in the data packets, the home agent forwards the data packets to the current address listed in the mobile node's data record.
