  • Patent number: 4634118
Abstract: Exercising apparatus includes a collapsible frame having upper and lower tracks supporting upper and lower groups of pulleys and moveable upright track supporting risers. The upper pulleys support an adjustable friction block partner supporting harness adjacent the frames front end, and a line extending from the friction block over upper pulleys to a coupling transmits a friction block enhanced force related to the partners weight. A multiple path pulley arrangement joined to the coupling provides a mechanical advantage, reducing by a multiple the effective force delivered adjacent the frame's back end to an exercising bar spaced apart from the exercising partner through lower track coupled pulley blocks. A separate line from the upper track passing through an offset pulley, is extendable to the lower lines to allow for pull down exercises.

  • Patent number: 4581615
Abstract: A two reflector microwave antenna has a concave focusing main dish having an integral peripheral flange. An integral radome shell also having a peripheral flange is disposed in confronting relationship to the main dish flange. Mounted over both flanges is a clamping ring to keep the main dish and radome shell in a stress condition of fixed edge shells. A secondary reflector is provided on a central portion of the radome. The concave focusing main dish in one example, defines a paraboloid of revolution. Specific shapes of the main dish and the radome shell are selected to appropriately focus the microwave radiation. A radome portion of a variable thickness of dielectric material of the integral radome shell modify the path of microwave energy compensating for diffraction of induced edge spillover. The stress condition of the shells as maintained by the clamp about the flanges provides a structually rigid antenna substantially void of structural elements.

  • Patent number: 4579434
Abstract: Large format photographic apparatus for creating the illusion of vehicle motion has a winch frame for supporting a cable arrangement and for simultaneously pulling two separate cables. A first cable is coupled to a subject vehicle to be photographed. The second cable is coupled via a linkage translator to a moveable platform mounted camera cart. The platform has a pair of spaced apart rails having inwardly facing surfaces and the cart has laterally disposed resilient wheels engaging the rails whereby transverse vibrational motion is reduced. Beyond the subject vehicle is an upright triangular weight bearing structure. A separate cable coupled from the rear of the vehicle being photographed to the weight balances and maintains an inertial drag on the vehicle to smooth out the motion of the cable of the vehicle. Similarly a separate cable coupled from the cart is coupled to a different upright triangular weight bearing structure.

  • Patent number: 4417856
Abstract: A peristaltic pump has facing half shells defining a pumping cavity and circular tube access grooves entering the cavity. Rotor apparatus includes a cylinder having concave, semi-spherical end surfaces rotatably supporting roller balls therein. The pumping cavity has a tube supporting substantially semi-annular, semicircular seat. Spring loaded roller bearings in rotor axial bores communicate with the roller balls adjacent the concave surfaces. The roller bearings engage the roller balls urging a central crescent shaped occlusion of the tubing. In operation, tubing is inserted in the access openings. The impeller rotation and frictional forces transmitted by the roller balls forces the tubing about the semicircular seat and out the opposing access groove. The roller balls impinge the tubing normal to a nominal tube axis to cause an occlusion deforming the tubing to a crescent configuration.
