  • Patent number: 5840982
Abstract: An improvement in a process for the preparation of a p-aminodiarylamine by reduction of the corresponding nitroso or nitro compound with hydrogen in a hydrogenator in the presence of a catalyst is disclosed. The invention includes equipping the hydrogenator with filtration means capable of separating the p-aminodiarylamine product from the catalyst, whereby the p-aminodiarylamine product can be removed from the hydrogenator while the catalyst is retained therein, thereby permitting the reaction to be run semicontinuously or continuously.

  • Patent number: 5779805
Abstract: The invention is a process for recrystallizing sugar. The invention involves admixing a first quantity of a powdered sugar and a second quantity of an adjuvant, such as an invert sugar, to provide a sugar blend. The sugar blend has up to about 3 percent moisture. The invention then involves mixing the sugar blend with a high shear extruding means at a temperature between about 220.degree. F. and about 300.degree. F. with a residence time in the extruding means of between about 0.5 second and about 12 seconds. The invention includes the product of a combined phase recrystallized sugar.

  • Patent number: 5772699
Abstract: An aqueous reactive dye composition is disclosed. The aqueous reactive dye composition has improved storage stability and contains a water-soluble reactive dye and a chelating agent. The chelating agent is present in a sufficient concentration to maintain the pH of the aqueous reactive dye composition in the range of about 3.0 to about 7.0 and, preferably, about 5.0 to about 6.5. Desirable chelating agents are dicarboxylic acids, such as succinic acid, or amino carboxylates, such as nitrilotriacetic acid. A method of stabilizing an aqueous reactive dye composition is disclosed and includes the step of dissolving a polycarboxylic acid or an amino carboxylate in an aqueous solution of a water-soluble reactive dye in a sufficient concentration to stabilize the pH of the composition.
