Abstract: Internally colored glass and glass-like blocks (10) and the method for making them. No means for coating the internal cavities (26) of clear glass and glass-like hollow blocks has been available. Color coating provides aesthetically pleasing structures. Internally colored glass and glass-like blocks may be used in building internal room dividers, providing colorful building designs and for providing color relief in heretofore otherwise drab structures.
Abstract: A sonic welded gas mask and the process for fabricating the mask. The facepiece of the mask provides apertures, appropriately shaped and dimensioned to receive gas mask components for sealing therein. The elastomeric material of the facepiece of the mask is captured between sealing elements and secured therebetween by a sonic welding process. The method of fabrication described attaches and positively seals the elements into the mask. Direct voice communication and alternatively, electronic voice communication may be provided between a user and the external environment.
Abstract: A compact, continuous-flow synthesis device for the production of dimeric hydrocarbon species by reacting unsaturated hydrocarbons such as alkenes and alkynes with atomic hydrogen or free radicals generated by the dissociation of molecular hydrogen or organics such as alkanes. The dissociation is carried out in a module either by the electric discharge between a pair of parallel, annular, flat disc, high-voltage electrodes or by the radiation between a pair of parallel, toroidal ultraviolet lamps. The reactant to be dissociated flows radially inward from the module periphery between the pair of electrodes or the pair of ultraviolet lamps, and reaches the axis of the annulus or torus in the dissociated state. Unsaturated hydrocarbons in the dispersed phase injected vertically down this axis react with the dissociated species in a collision chamber surrounding the dissociation module to form residual free radicals.

Abstract: An optical bench system that provides a plurality of optical components that may be assembled so as to construct a multiplicity of optical instruments in many varied configurations. Varied, non-rectangular optical mounting plates facilitate manipulation of the optical axis in a given system so as to reach a desired resulting optical instrument. Structural members provide stability and facilitate connectability.
Abstract: A dressing for wounds that permits a cover member to be repeatedly unsealed or opened for inspection, medication of the wound or for any other purpose and then repeatedly resealed without loss of integrity of the seal. Opening and resealing may be accomplished by means of a hasp comprising a latch and an eye or the like. The dressing may be secured to the body skin of a user by means of an epidermal adhesive tape strip base member that has a wound circumscribing aperture. A pad, medicated or not, may be supplied to cover a wound under treatment within the circumscription of said circumscribing aperture.
Abstract: The object of the invention is to provide an apparatus for the cooling and quenching of destructive fires. The Fire Extinguishing Capsule comprises two double-walled hemishapes which are sealed together by an equatorial belt seal which may be raptured in order to disperse the extinguishant in the capsule. The capsule may be suspended in sire or from a hook and ladder system or a helicopter in the case of forest fires or oil well fires or transported by sled to a fire scene.

Abstract: The object of the invention is to provide a facility that permits invalids and other movement-restricted persons to independently attend to the business of the elimination of body wastes and without the necessity of being removed from the vehicle of confinement, be it a bed, wheelchair or other structure. The facility has a waste receptacle (48) that may be moved into registry with an annular aperture (20) in a mattress (12) so as to receive body wastes in the receptacle. The facility also has a plug (14) that may be moved into position into said annular aperture for the comfort of the user. Both the mattress and the plug are provided with cleanable, removable covers (15) and (202).
Abstract: A disposable, protective reclosable wound dressing or bandage providing wound access that is easy to apply and/or open without disturbing a protective crust of blood and serum that forms over a wound, said crust being more commonly called a scab. In addition, it is convenient to apply medication without removing the bandage and at the same time, the wound may be inspected and otherwise treated while maintaining the bandage in place. The dressing is low in cost, simple and uncomplicated, non-metallic and not rigid but resilient and thus adaptable to the shape of the body part to which it is applied. One of its most important features is its capability to be repeatedly opened for inspection or for the application of medication and thereafter to be reclosed without losing any of the integrity of seal.
Abstract: A portable game table arm cushion for providing a comfortable support for a user's forearms, the cushion being removably attachable to the forward edge of a desk or table by means of insertable clips, said cushion being conveniently portable by means of being foldable into convenient lengths so as to fit into a purse or handbag. The cushion may be economically produced in any number of unitary or variable length segments so as to make up a composite cushion of any desired overall total length.
Abstract: A device to control an electric well pump motor to pump continuously so long as there is liquid available to be pumped from the well. Whenever there is insufficient liquid to be pumped, the device causes shut-off of the electric pump motor. When liquid again becomes sufficiently available, the device causes pumping operations to resume. Liquid availability conditions are examined by the device at periodic intervals. The device comprises an adjustable variable-area-orifice restricted section in a liquid passage conduit, a pressure switch, a timer, an electric motor, and a motor control switch.
Abstract: An animal capturing and restraining device 10 which shall catch and hold an animal so captured, securely without mutilation and without inflicting pain and from which the captured and restrained animal will not effect escape through, for example, the expedient of gnawing a paw off and leaving it in the device. An animal caught by the device will be restrained and prevented from escape by means of an adjustable slip noose 40 comprising flexible member 28 and large loop 30. Relatively small animals may be captured about the body while relatively larger animals will be captured about the neck whereby an uncomfortable adjustment to the noose will be made or relaxed only in direct proportion to any struggles initiated by the animal itself.
Abstract: Method and apparatus for a duplex communication system wherein a local station transmits a modulated signal at a nominal, fixed frequency f.sub.1 to a remote station which transmits, simultaneously, to the local station, a modulated signal at a nominal, fixed frequency f.sub.2, which frequency f.sub.2 is displaced from frequency f.sub.1, by a frequency .vertline.f.sub.2 =f.sub.1 .vertline. being the intermediate frequency of the receivers at both the first and second stations. Novel transmitter signal suppression is provided in the circuits of the local and remote stations so that a common transmit-receive antenna may be utilized at each station without swamping either receiver's front-end circuits on transmission and optimum conversion gain may be realized on reception.
Abstract: A timed, automatic pet food and water dispenser (10) which incorporates a leveraged loading storage bin (28,12) for receiving a supply of particulate pet feed and having means for mixing water with said particulate feed (62,20,70) therewith to produce a gravy and a softening of said particulate feed. A feed dispensing auger (60) measures a predetermined amount of said particulate feed and furnishes said feed to a feed dish (22) at predetermined time intervals controlled by a timer system (74). A water container (24) comprising level control means (26) provides water for drinking purposes independently of said timer system.
Abstract: An archery shooting bow having an elongated cylindrical flashlight mounted thereupon and oriented so as to both provide forward illumination for the archer in the general direction in which an arrow may be shot from the bow and also so as to serve as a stabilizer for the bow.
