  • Patent number: 4113163
Abstract: The invention concerns a fastening tool employing a caseless munition. The tool includes a cavity for the munition, or explosive chamber, constituting a high-pressure chamber communicating with a low-pressure expansion chamber through at least one passage. The cavity for the munition, or explosive chamber, is formed radially in the very body of the breech, access thereto for loading being located on the periphery of said breech. It is possible to close said access after loading with a closing member, and the passage or passages putting the munition cavity in communication with the low-pressure chamber are formed in said breech.

  • Patent number: 4093110
Abstract: A chamber is formed on a powder-actuated tool into which the combustion gases generated by firing the tool are directed. The chamber contains a plurality of baffle plates which absorb noise and provide increased surface area for precipitation of fouling deposits carried by the combustion gases. The plates are easily removable for cleaning. The chamber is formed in a box-like housing which can be secured to a conventional indirect firing tool with minimal adaptation necessary.

  • Patent number: 4071949
Abstract: A method and apparatus for securing spherical bodies to a supporting member by staking. The spheres are fed one by one into a bore of a setting apparatus where they are picked up by the front end of a staking punch which reciprocates in the bore. The punch advances the sphere to the supporting member and imbeds the sphere in the surface of the supporting member while at the same time forming integral tangs from the supporting member which partially encircle the sphere and hold it in place. The punch then withdraws to pick up a fresh sphere and a new supporting member is moved into place to receive the fresh sphere.

  • Patent number: 4019648
Abstract: A child resistant safety closure for an easy-open can has a tether which restrains movement of the pull tab. The tether is integral with the tab and extends into the interior of the tab ring. The distal end of the tether is removably attached to an auxiliary rivet formed in the end panel. Opening the container requires application of sufficient force to cause disengagement of the tether from the auxiliary rivet. This is beyond the experience or physical capabilities of small children.

  • Patent number: 4008825
Abstract: An improved easy-open end closure pull tab comprising a double folded rivet panel having a lower portion which is carried beyond the outer periphery of the tab ring to form a nose. The panel fold functions as a spring to bias the tab away from the end panel of an end closure after assembly and raises the tab above the end panel so that the tab is springy which increases its abuse resistance. The double folded rivet panel construction allows machining the tab from thin sheet stock.
