Abstract: A cable fault detection component (168) receives input data indicative of a fault in an electrical power system. The component (168) analyzes the input data to determine if the fault is indicative of a temporary or self-clearing cable fault and generates corresponding output data (276). In one implementation, the cable fault detection component (168) is implemented as a software module which operates on a computer (105) of a substation intelligence system (104).

Abstract: A method and tool for creating documentation for a transformer design uses design files created during the transformer design process to generate drawings and other information necessary to populate documentation. The design files contain information relating to the physical layout of all of the components of the coil as well as the electrical connectivity of the windings. The method and tool retrieve the design information, construct the associated drawings, format the drawings to the appropriate sizes, and display any associated text.
Abstract: The invention is directed to a transformer and a method of manufacturing the same, wherein the transformer has a cylindrical disc-wound coil that includes a layer of cooling ducts disposed between first and second conductor layers. The first and second conductor layers each have a plurality of disc windings arranged in an axial direction of the disc-wound coil. Each of the disc windings includes a conductor wound into a plurality of concentric turns.

Abstract: A nozzle for a medium or high voltage gas switching device of the type having at least a couple of separable arc contacts (1, 2), comprising a hollow shaped body (100) suitable to be positioned inside the device around the zone (20) where electric arcs form between said arc contacts (1, 2) during switching operations, characterized in that said hollow shaped body (100) has a first portion (101) electrically conductive and a second portion (102) made of electrically insulating material which surrounds at least partially said first portion (101).
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method and apparatus for developing a metadata-infused software program for controlling a device, such as a robot. A first library of software segments with metadata and a second library of script documents are provided. A part program wizard uses a script document selected from the second library to display queries on a screen of an interface device. Using input information received in response to the queries, the part program wizard selects and combines software segments from the first library to produce the metadata-infused software program. The metadata identifies the selected software segments and includes statuses of the selected software segments. A graphical representation of the metadata infused software program is displayed on the screen and conveys the statuses of the software segments. A deployment wizard is utilized to teach data points for the metadata-infused software program.

Abstract: A cradle and a method for adapting a circuit breaker for mounting in a switchgear cabinet having a bus bar system. The cradle includes a frame to which a racking apparatus and a locking apparatus are mounted. The racking apparatus is operable to move the cradle into and out of electrical connection with the bus bar system. The locking apparatus has a first operating state, wherein the locking apparatus prevents the circuit breaker from being disposed in the frame and allows the racking apparatus to operate, and a second operating state, wherein the locking apparatus allows the circuit breaker to be disposed in the frame and prevents the racking apparatus from operating.
Abstract: The invention relates to a special electrode surface for electrodes of a flow measuring device. In order to provide more measurement reliability for abrasive substances to be measured, for example in multiphase substances to be measured, according to the invention the size of the active electrode surface (3) is optimized independently of the size of the electrode (2) to be sealed in by means of a coating (4) so that an electrically nonconductive coating leaves free only the electrically active surface (3).
Abstract: A method and apparatus for operating a magnetic actuator in a power switching device by transmitting at least two different electrical current waveforms to the actuator. Both waveforms are sent to the actuator from a controller in the same direction to move an actuator's armature from a first position to a second position. The first current waveform causes the armature to move from the first position to the second position. The second waveform is transmitted to the actuator to keep the armature moving towards the second position without overdriving the armature.
