  • Patent number: 6925380
Abstract: A real-time path-directed controller for navigating an object along a desired path is disclosed. The controller comprises: a position sensor which contributes to the production of a conditioned object position signal to a controller summer; a heading conditioning module which contributes to the production of a conditioned heading signal to the controller summer; a control apparatus sensor which contributes to the production of a conditioned control apparatus signal to the controller summer; and a control apparatus null position conditioning module which contributes to the production of a conditioned null position signal to the controller summer. The controller summer sums the signals to produce a controller summer signal to a controller summer conditioning module so as to produce a control apparatus control signal to a control apparatus controller so as to direct the control apparatus and thereby direct the object by feedback control along the desired path.

  • Patent number: 6765909
Abstract: A classification application utilizing a table of connection numbers and associated TCP/IP applications is utilized for determining a wireless packet communication, quality of service level by decoding a connection number field of the compressed packet header. Packets carrying different connection numbers can be mapped to different Quality of Service planes. When a non-active TCP connection becomes active, the classification application detects and identifies the connection by reading the connection number field of a compressed TCP/IP header in a packet of the application. The classification application applies the appropriate Quality of Service level as determined from a user database and a list of available Quality of Service levels. If the connection has no table entry, the TCP/IP application is identified based on comparison to a pre-loaded table of port numbers and a new entry is created in the connection number table.

  • Patent number: 6563919
Abstract: A gateway cluster has a number of gateways for different types of communication protocols. The respective gateways convert network messages to normalized messages by querying the categories, data, and network types of the normalized data for the mobile systems from which the network messages were generated. A database system stores normalized data in categories. The normalized data include data relating to the mobile systems and network types for the data. A unified mobility manager is coupled to and in communications with the gateway cluster and the database system. The unified mobility manager receives and processes the normalized messages, performs operations based on the normalized messages and on the categories, the data, and the network types of the normalized data, and formulates normalized responses responsive to the normalized messages. The normalized responses are converted to network responses at the gateways, and the network responses are sent to the respective mobile systems.

  • Patent number: 6490451
Abstract: An improved method and system for providing packet-switched management of switching and handoff functions for a mobile terminal during call setup and user communication phases of a telecommunication session. A radio access network (RAN) including an air-interface base station in communication with the mobile terminal is in communicative contact with a packet-switched core network comprised of a plurality nodes which provide functionality that is equivalent to that of a network of Mobile Switching Centers (MSCs) and Visitor Location Registers (VLRs). A packet-switching backbone network provides communication transport facilities within the core network. Within the core network is a wireless access gateway (WAG) having media channels that provide an interface between the RAN and the core network. An Anchor Packet Gateway (APG) extends the bearer path from the WAG, and hides mobility between WAGs during the user communication phase.

  • Patent number: 6281802
Abstract: An alarm and pump control system for automatic chlorinators of the type used with septic treatment systems is disclosed. The present invention includes a switch module that couples alongside an automatic chlorinator that uses dissolvable standard size chlorine tablets in a stack and an activator module that sits on top of the stack of chlorine tablets and descends as the chlorine tablets dissolve. The switch module includes proximity switches that can be coupled to one or more alarms. The activator module includes one or more magnets that interact with the proximity switches to signal the owner that the chlorinator requires refilling or to cut off the pump power.

  • Patent number: 6064886
Abstract: A fixed wireless access system includes circuitry for routing a call for a subscriber having a directory number not only through the primary cell, but also through any secondary cell for a border cell subscriber. In each case, the primary and secondary cells borders a geographically located near the geographic location of the border cell subscriber. For calls that are being routed to the border cell subscriber, one of a plurality of subscriber features including call forward no-answer, call forward unconditional or multiple access directory numbers may be used to cause the switch to trigger one or more fixed wireless access controllers to generate page request signals to the base stations for the border cell subscriber. For calls originated by the border cell subscriber, the subscriber's directory number is placed within the subscriber list for each base station whose cell borders are located geographically near the border cell subscribers geographic location.

  • Patent number: 5970411
Abstract: The process of the present invention is based on a tri-cellular, hexagonal platform where six, or a multiple of six, frequency groups are directionalized and reused in the same direction. Directional antennas are located in the center of each tri-cell group. Each antenna radiates into a 120.degree. sector of the tri-cell group. The reused frequency groups are aligned along the 0.degree., 120.degree., and 240.degree. axes of each cell. Each axis has three layers, the two outer layers having an identical frequency reuse series. The frequency groups are reused in the same direction along each axis, reducing the number of dominant interfering cells to one.

  • Patent number: 5963870
Abstract: The power control process switches between IS-95 forward power control and fast forward power control using either speed or hand-off status information from the mobile radiotelephone. If the received information indicates either a slower speed or the number of communication links is less than a predetermined number, the fast forward power control process is used. If the received information indicates either a fast speed or the number of links is greater than or equal to the predetermined number (the radiotelephone is in a hand-off situation), the forward power control process is used.
