  • Patent number: 5392839
Abstract: An universal window treatment support device or holder for supporting various lengths, sizes and types of curtain and/or drapery material in a wide variety of different decorative treatment arrangements. The holder is an elongated, relatively thin, flat rigid element containing a number of openings of different sizes and shapes along its length and having an elongated rod of small cross-section extending across the lower portion thereof. The device is vertically mounted in front of an area to be decorated and looped sections of material is passed from the back of the holder to its front through one or more of the openings or looped over the elongated rod after which the looped sections are fluffed out or draped in front of the holder to provide individualized decorative treatments. The elongated rod is adaptable for passing through hemmed openings of flat panels of sheer material to provide a light filtering function.

  • Patent number: 5184561
Abstract: A pontoon boat comprising elongated flotation units of generally circular cross-section positioned in spaced-apart parallel relationship with each of the flotation units having planing fins extending longitudinally of the inboard and outboard sides of the flotation units near the bottom thereof to cause the pontoon boat to readily hydroplane. A wedge-shaped fin is provided on the underside of the outboard planing fins near the bow section to provide additional lift when turning at high speeds to improve control and stability on turns.

  • Patent number: 5044829
Abstract: A mooring system comprising a multiple degree of freedom coupler interconnecting a floatation section and an anchoring section of a dock system. The system also comprises a drawbridge section, a gangway section and a shoreline mooring section. The multiple degree of freedom coupler prevents hanging-up of the floatation sections which is an expensive, frequently occurring problem experienced by virtually every free floating anchor/sleeve dock system currently in existence.

  • Patent number: 3985121
Abstract: The heart detective described is a portable device for detecting and indicating when heart sounds emanating directly from a physical area under auscultation are representative of a heart disorder. The device detects the audio sounds emanating from the classical four physical areas of auscultation and compares these detected sounds to prerecorded sounds of the same areas representing a known heart disorder. A comparison is made between the detected sounds and the prerecorded sounds, and the correlations are indicated in a display on the device so that a determination may be made if the heart disorder is present. The device also contains means for accepting an auxiliary transducer for detecting heartbeat pulses and indicating the pulse rate.

  • Patent number: 3978849
Abstract: A pulse rate indicator automatically indicates a person's pulse rate and changes in this rate. The indicator is individually programmed for each user to account for the overall physiological characteristics of the user. The indicator may be mounted on a wristband and the pulse count is averaged over a time increment, stored and displayed as a reference or rest value. As the user undergoes physical exercise, the subsequent pulse rate is visually indicated and compared with the reference or rest value. When the pulse rate increases, but not to a dangerous level, the color of the indicator changes to inform the user that continued exercise is permissible. When an excessive pulse rate is reached, the indicator changes color and an audible alarm is sounded. The programmable feature therefore allows each person to exercise up to his particular limits for physical fitness tailored to his own physiological makeup, with sufficient advance warning to avoid excessive strain on the heart.
