  • Patent number: 7766122
Abstract: The sound generating and transmitting apparatus is based on a radiator including at least a first, and possibly two or more, shaped reflecting surface(s) having a forward radiant axis. Each of the shaped reflecting surfaces defines sets of equivalent acoustic input locations, with each set being a ring of non-zero circumference centered on the forward radiant axis. The sound source is a distributed, functionally continuous sound source adapted to exploit this feature. In its preferred form the sound source is a sort of closed line array of loudspeakers providing a toroidal shaped acoustic source to direct at the hyperbolic cone, the transducers being disposed in a circle with all of the loudspeakers oriented inwardly toward or outwardly from the forward radiant axis.

  • Patent number: 7760899
Abstract: A single folded, expanding horn loudspeaker reproduces low frequency audible sound at high power output levels. A compact enclosure houses a plurality of identical transducers, characterized by small vibrational surface areas. The throats for each transducer into the horn are acoustically differentially spaced from the mouth of the horn with the spacing between adjacent throats progressively increasing in the acoustic direction of the horn mouth from the throat origin.

  • Patent number: 7741597
Abstract: A motion sensor incorporates an internal light source, typically a super bright LED and an optical projection system visible to an observer standing in the motion sensor coverage zone(s) to simplify orientation of the sensor on installation. A multi-lens system or an arrangement of small windows in front of the LED projects a visible light pattern that mimics the detection pattern of the motion sensor to an observer standing in the detection zone and looking at the sensor.

  • Patent number: 7624839
Abstract: A compact loudspeaker enclosure combines planar type devices for high frequency sound reproduction and cone type active devices for low frequency sound reproduction. The low frequency cone type transducers are mounted in baffles between forward and rear enclosed spaces and thus do not directly radiate into the environment. The first enclosed space is acoustically coupled to the environment by the planar device which is mounted between the first enclosed space and the environment with one major face mounted to radiate either directly into the environment or to be horn loaded. The planar operates as a passive radiator to the LF devices at low frequencies and an active device above a crossover frequency.

  • Patent number: 7277552
Abstract: The power density of a bass-reflex enclosure is improved by providing transducers in pairs, with the members of each pair being oriented front to back with respect to one another. The transducers are mounted on the enclosure with at least one of the transducers being substantially perpendicular to a front face of the enclosure and having its backside partially rested in the second transducer of the pair. The gap between the transducers is wider on the side open to the surrounding environment through the front face. Directivity may be provided by incorporating a second pair of transducers.

  • Patent number: 6870942
Abstract: A loudspeaker assembly includes a housing defining a bass-reflex enclosure. The housing has a trapezoidal cross-sectional shape in a vertical section running from front to back of the housing. A conventional low frequency cone woofer is mounted in an aperture in the front face of the enclosure. An elongated port is defined in part by one of the sides of the housing and its top and bottom sides. The elongated port has varying vertical and horizontal cross sectional dimensions to conform to the sides of the enclosure while maintaining a constant cross sectional area. A planar is mounted to the front face of the enclosure over a tuned rear chamber.

  • Patent number: 6616308
Abstract: An imitation candle is made from a translucent material having light transmissive properties similar to paraffin. The imitation candle is shaped to appear reduced by burning. An LED, or similar high intensity light source, is set in a cavity within the imitation candle. The LED preferably produces amber light to better resemble the color of candle light. The imitation candle diffuses the light emitted from the LED to create a warm, natural looking glow. Light emission levels from the LED are varied in a pseudo-random manner to simulate the flicker of candle light.

  • Patent number: 6467635
Abstract: The portable display apparatus of the invention is used to display caskets, urns, burial vaults and related materials. The portable casket display apparatus is made from a number of extrusions which have channels along the extrusion exterior. The display apparatus has a pair of vertical back extrusions releasably connected to first and second horizontal rear extrusions in a spaced apart relationship. Upper and lower pairs of lateral extrusions releasably connect to the vertical back extrusion in a spaced apart relationship. A sliding mechanism attaches to each lower lateral extrusion in a channel to move a bottom casket support from beneath the upper casket support.
