Abstract: A method of using an everting borehole liner to perform fluid conductivity measurements in materials surrounding a pipe, tube, or conduit, such as a borehole below the surface of the Earth. A flexible liner is everted (turned inside out) into the borehole with an internal pressurized fluid. As the liner displaces the ambient fluid in the borehole into the surrounding formation, the rate of descent of the liner is recorded. As the impermeable liner covers the flow paths in the wall of the hole, the descent rate slows. From the measured descent rate, the flow rates out discrete sections of the borehole are determined.
Abstract: Illuminated items including a chemiluminescent article. The present invention is directed to various clothing, ornamental and useful items lighted by a chemiluminescent article, preferably a light stick that is activated. Clothing items illuminated by the chemiluminescent article include a hat, cap, shirt, pants, collar, cuff, sleeve, pocket, trim, scarf, boa, sandal and shoe. Ornamental and useful items illuminated by the chemiluminescent article include a holiday ornament, jewelry, greeting card, aquarium figure, lighter, egg, basket, flag, umbrella, guitar pick, drumstick, slide viewer, bottle topper and candy wrapper.
Abstract: Method and devices for electrosurgery by means of oxy-hydro combustion. Deleterious effects to tissue are minimized by means of control of acid-base shift reactions, which reactions can further be employed to control oxy-hydro combustion reactions. In one embodiment, radiofrequency energy in electrical connection with electrodes is employed to induce electrolysis in an aqueous salt environment, thereby producing oxygen and hydrogen, with the same energy source employed to initiate a combustion reaction.

Abstract: A database design and maintenance system and method includes a software suite designed to assist users with creating, storing, updating and reusing full-text and bibliographic databases. The software suite includes three components configured to operate on any Java-enabled server. The first component is an intranet system for document entry, editing, and viewing. The second component is an indexer that includes concept extracting, statistical collecting, and rule building functionality. For example, when a text document is entered into the intranet system, the concept extractor scans the document to determine appropriate subject terms for identifying the document. These subject terms are reviewed by a human indexer and assigned to the document. The statistical collecting function analyzes the concept extractor's performance in finding appropriate indexing terms and maintains a record of the hits, misses, and noise.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for microencapsulating or electrodeposited coating of ferromagnetic and soft-magnetic sub-micron or nano sized powderized material comprising use of a rotary flow-through device assisted by an electromagnet within the electrode ring to alternately position the powder at the face of the cathode ring and electroplate the powder and reorient it prior to another repositioning. The invention is also of a process and apparatus for forming a strip, mesh, or film from magnetic powderized material in an organized bipolar arrangement, which is particularly useful for electroforming foils with the magnetic particles positioned in a monolayer within a multilayer metallic foil.

Abstract: A confectionery comprising a container, a handle portion above the container, a body attached to the handle portion and disposed within the container, and preferably a flowable confectionery disposed within the container.
Abstract: A neutron detector utilizing a sol-gel absorber incorporating a fissionable material and an activation disk. Preferably utilizing Li-6 and B-10 as fissionable material and Ag-109 as activation disk material for increased sensitivity and better differentiation of thermal versus prompt neutrons and neutrons versus other radiation fragments.
Abstract: An optic and method of manufacture comprising a center portion comprising a front surface and a back surface and a mangin surrounding the center portion and comprising a front surface and a back surface, wherein the front surface of the center portion is flat and reflective rearward and the front surface of the mangin is spherical.
Abstract: A light-weight, foldable, soft-sided pet conveyance apparatus. The apparatus provides a soft-sided containment area for securing a pet which can allow a pet to view its surroundings through an optional overhead containment wall access opening or completely secure the pet with a closure flap. The containment area may be used in conjunction with a pre-existing stroller or may be disposed on a stroller frame as a single unit.
Abstract: The invention is a belt loop cover. The belt loop cover is preferably attachable to and detachable from a belt loop and provides a decorative element for clothing. Various optional attachment systems attach the belt loop cover to the belt loop.
Abstract: A pill dispenser for a bottle (and corresponding method of dispensing a pill) comprising a cap with an interior chamber and a hole through a top of the cap and communicating with the interior chamber, which cap is rotatable when engaged with a corresponding bottle, and a pill stop oriented to dispense a single pill from the interior chamber through the hole when the bottle is oriented with cap downward and the cap rotated so that the hole and the pill stop correspond in position.
Abstract: Accessories such as jewelry lighted with chemiluminescence. The accessories have decorative chemiluminescent article holders which utilize apertures or spaces for direct viewing of the chemiluminescent article. The accessories, may include ornamental elements back-lit by chemiluminescence.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for locating the boundary surface between a layer of fatty tissue and lean tissue in a cut of meat, such as beef, such as slabs of meat undergoing trimming and cutting in commercial meet processing facilitates. The invention exploits the fact that fatty tissue and lean tissue have significantly different responses to incident light energy. By gauging the degree to which a generated beam of light is scattered and reflected by the tissues under evaluation, the invention permits the character of the tissue to be ascertained. An incident beam of light, such as green light, is generated and transmitted to a probe tip, which tip is inserted into the cut of meat under investigation. The light beam is emitted into the meat tissues from the probe tip, and then is scattered and reflected by the tissues, whereupon some fraction of the emitted light returns to the probe tip.
