Abstract: The invention provides synthetic heparin-binding growth factor analogs having two peptide chains each branched from a branch moiety, such as trifunctional amino acid residues, the branch moieties separated by a first linker of from 3 to about 20 backbone atoms, which peptide chains bind a heparin-binding growth factor receptor and are covalently bound to a non-signaling peptide that includes a heparin-binding domain, preferably by a second linker, which may be a hydrophobic second linker. The synthetic heparin-binding growth factor analogs are useful as pharmaceutical agents, soluble biologics or as surface coatings for medical devices.

Abstract: Computer software for and method of determining livestock ownership comprising inputting an image of a livestock brand whose ownership is to be determined, automatically determining one or more computed closest fits to the image from a database of livestock brands, and outputting owner information from the database of livestock brands concerning one or more of the one or more computed closest fits.
Abstract: An enhanced entropy camera provides enhanced image quality by utilizing a custom analog-to-digital conversion function. The analog-to-digital conversion occurs according to a custom non-linear quantization function that provides enhanced entropy in the digitized image, yet avoids the harsh artifacts that tend to arise in images quantized according to a maximum entropy function. A plurality of custom non-linear functions are made available for selection depending upon imaging conditions, such as light intensity, pigmentation of the retina, or the part of the retina being imaged. Each of the plural non-linear quantization function comprises a distinct non-linear look up table for each of plural bands (e.g., red, green, and blue color channels).
Abstract: An apparatus combining an optical sensor and a bomb impact assessment system, and corresponding method for facilitating bomb impact assessment, comprising means for receiving an optical signal, means for splitting off a portion of the optical signal from a primary optical path to form a secondary optical path, a lens in the secondary optical path, the lens comprising a plurality of facets generating a plurality of tertiary optical paths, means for combining signals from the primary and one or more of the tertiary optical paths, means for detecting the combined signals, and means for projecting onto a focal plane array bomb impact assessment data comprising detected signals from one or more of the tertiary optical paths.

Abstract: A radome, and corresponding method of making, comprising an electro-optic transparent substrate, a semiconductor coating on the substrate, and a frequency selective surface embedded in the coating.
Abstract: Devices for electrosurgery by means of oxy-hydro combustion. Deleterious effects to tissue are minimized by means of control of acid-base shift reactions, which reactions can further be employed to control oxy-hydro combustion reactions. In one embodiment, radiofrequency energy in electrical connection with electrodes is employed to induce electrolysis in an aqueous salt environment, thereby producing oxygen and hydrogen, with the same energy source employed to initiate a combustion reaction.
Abstract: An antenna and a corresponding method of creating any polarization state in an antenna comprising providing to the antenna a single power input, dividing the power received from the single power input, transmitting the divided power to a combiner network via a first plurality of transmission lines, and transmitting power from the combiner network to a radiating element via a second plurality of transmission lines.
Abstract: An improved cork closure for beverage and wine bottles having a recess on the exterior face of the closure in use. The recess is designed to facilitate the extraction process by providing central constraint on the position of the corkscrew on the face of the closure and to guide the corkscrew along the axis of the closure. This recess does not interfere with any other types of extraction device.
Abstract: The present invention provides for pulsed powered drilling apparatuses and methods. A drilling apparatus is provided comprising a bit having one or more sets of electrodes through which a pulsed voltage is passed through a mineral substrate to create a crushing or drilling action.
Abstract: The present invention provides a natural gas dehydrator and method for recirculation of gaseous or combustible materials so that they are not released into the atmosphere and to provide fuel for the process. Likewise, liquid hydrocarbons are collected.
Abstract: The present invention comprises a tracking solar power array that provides shelter to items disposed beneath the solar power array, particularly to vehicles.
Abstract: The invention provides synthetic heparin-binding growth factor analogs having at least two different peptide growth factor analog chains, or alternatively two groups of two different peptide chains branched from branch moieties including trifunctional amino acid residues, the two groups separated by a first linker of from 3 to about 20 atoms, which peptide chain or chains bind a heparin-binding growth factor receptor and are covalently bound to a non-signaling peptide that includes a heparin-binding domain by a second linker, which may be a hydrophobic second linker. The synthetic heparin-binding growth factor analogs are useful as pharmaceutical agents, soluble biologics or as surface coatings for medical devices.
Abstract: A decorative fabric panel system wherein one or more fabric panels are held by one or more removably positionable clip members having an openable and closable latch member. One or more hooks are preferably provided suspending the clips and fabric panels from a pre-determined location.
